Lil Nas X<\/strong><\/a> spoke candidly about his mental health and musical future in a new video message released nearly one year after his high-profile arrest.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been in rehab for a few months, and then since then I\u2019ve been, you know, back at home \u2014 whether it\u2019s in Atlanta with my family or in Los Angeles with myself, friends and whatnot \u2014 and trying to ground myself down to Earth and get out of my head,\u201d the \u201cOld Town Road\u201d rapper, 27, said in the two-minute clip posted to his Instagram<\/a> on Wednesday, June 17. \u201cI have a therapist now and a psychiatrist, which has been really helpful.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cWhen I got my bipolar disorder, I felt like I had known for the past few years, but I didn\u2019t want to admit to it \u2019cause I didn\u2019t want to have to take medication and, I don\u2019t know, have people think different of me. I mean, I\u2019m already, like, Black and gay \u2014 like, damn, God, give me [a break].\u201d<\/p>\n

Lil Nas X then assured his 9.7 followers, \u201cI\u2019m doing better. I\u2019m feeling better.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lil Nas X (real name Montero Lamar Hill) was arrested and briefly hospitalized<\/a> in August 2025 after being seen walking without clothing on Ventura Boulevard in Los Angeles. \n\t\t\tFans of Lil Nas X were left puzzled and looking for answers after the rapper was arrested in the early hours of August 21, 2025. The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the rapper was taken into custody after he attempted to \u201cbatter an officer.\u201d He has since been charged with four felonies. Lil Nas X subsequently spent two months in an Arizona inpatient treatment center, where he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder<\/a>. Since returning home, the Grammy winner has followed a \u201crigorous mental health regimen,\u201d which includes regular visits with a psychiatrist and a psychotherapist, according to his lawyer Christy O\u2019Connor<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In April, an L.A. judge agreed to dismiss the charges against Lil Nas X if he continued with his outpatient treatment program and did not break any additional laws for two consecutive years.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen treated, he is much better off, and society is much better off,\u201d Judge Alan Schneider<\/strong> said at the time, adding that he believed the behaviors that led to the \u201cPanini\u201d rapper\u2019s arrest were \u201caberrant from his normal conduct.\u201d<\/p>\n
