\n\tLil Nas X<\/a> has returned to social media with a video update for fans about his mental health<\/a> and plans for new music.<\/p>\n \n\tThe Instagram clip posted Wednesday (June 17) begins with the singer-rapper walking into frame and almost immediately cracking up about how \u201cawkward\u201d it feels to film himself, but noting he \u201creally wanted to talk to you guys.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tStanding outside with a nearly clear blue sky behind him, the musician said, \u201cFirst, where I\u2019ve been: I\u2019ve been in rehab for a few months, and since then I\u2019ve been back at home, whether it\u2019s in Atlanta with my family or Los Angeles with my friends \u2026 trying to ground myself down to earth and get out of my head.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI have a therapist now and a psychiatrist, which has been really helpful,\u201d he continued. \u201cWhen I got my bipolar disorder diagnosis, I feel like I had known for the past few years, but I didn\u2019t want to admit to it, \u2019cause I didn\u2019t want to have to take medication and \u2026 I don\u2019t know, have people think different of me. I mean, I\u2019m already Black and gay. Like, \u2018Damn, God. Come on.\u2019 Black, gay, bipolar \u2014 I\u2019m living life on extreme hard mode.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tStill laughing at himself, the hitmaker went on to say that \u201con a serious note,\u201d he\u2019s \u201cdoing much better.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI\u2019m creating freely,\u201d he added. \u201cThere\u2019s less fear in my heart, and I\u2019m just smelling the roses.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tLil Nas concluded by marveling at how he\u2019s already been making music for seven years now and teased that he\u2019s gearing up to release even more. \u201cI want to let you guys know that there is new music on the way,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019m not getting completely to that just yet, but I\u2019m excited to do that, and I\u2019m excited to go on this journey with you guys, this next chapter. S\u2013t. We\u2019ve been through so much together. Thank you, guys, for holding it down. I love you, and all I want to do is continue to try to make you proud.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe statement comes after a challenging year for Lil Nas, who was ordered by a judge<\/a> in April to complete a two-year mental health treatment plan after he was arrested last year<\/a> for allegedly attacking police officers in Los Angeles. The officers had responded to reports that the musician had been walking around in public wearing nothing but his underwear and cowboy boots, after which he spent a weekend in custody. <\/p>\n \n\tHe later pleaded not guilty to three counts of battery and one count of resisting arrest, charges that will be dismissed if he completes the treatment plan.<\/p>\n \n\tLil Nas last dropped music in March 2025, when he unveiled the EP Days Before Dreamboy<\/em>.
