Simon Cowell<\/a>\u2019s fiance\u00e9, Lauren Silverman<\/a>, is sharing the couple’s “very clear” social media rules for their son.<\/p>\n During an appearance on This Morning<\/em><\/a>, <\/em>the 48-year-old entrepreneur spoke about her recent advocacy efforts with Raise the Age, a campaign that wants to ban all social media for every person under the age of 16 in the U.K. Silverman, who shares son Eric<\/a>, 12, with the British TV personality, 66, shared that they have “very clear” rules for social media usage with their tween son.<\/p>\n “With Eric, we have been very clear on no social media for him, and particularly even more so once I started to become involved with the campaign,” she said. “It really just enforced and reinforced everything that I already knew.”<\/p>\n “So, we’ve been very strict with him about social media. In terms of having a phone, he does have, I guess you could call it a brick phone,” she explained. “It’s a smartphone in the sense that it’s like an Apple phone, but there’s nothing on it. It’s completely shut down. So, he can text and WhatsApp, but that’s it. Okay. So, you put restrictions on it.”<\/p>\n Elsewhere in the interview, Silverman shared her son’s “really sweet” reaction to hearing the news about the social media ban in the U.K.<\/p>\n “When this happened on Monday, … I said, ‘How do you feel about the ban?’ And he said, ‘Well, I’m really happy about it because now that means I can get social media now that the companies are going to make the platform safe,’ ” she recalled. “And I thought that was a really sweet thing that he said because it’s obvious that he’s aware, and he’s clued in and listening to all the things I’ve been saying.”<\/p>\n She then admitted that the 12-year-old has a “long way to go” until he gets social media, noting she’s “afraid,” but will think more about the possibility of it. She also revealed that Cowell himself doesn’t have a cellphone.<\/p>\n The entrepreneur recently revealed on the Happy Mum <\/em>podcast<\/a> that her pregnancy with her son Eric<\/a> was \u201cone of the hardest times of my life\u201d because it led to the end of her first marriage.<\/p>\n “There are so many emotions that went with that, because it was the end of my marriage, obviously,\u201d she said. \u201cIt was one of the hardest times of my life, because \u2014\u00a0I don\u2019t want to say regretful, because I don\u2019t regret anything \u2014\u00a0do I wish it had happened a different way \u2026 of course I do.\u201d<\/p>\n Silverman continued, \u201cBut I think everything happens for a reason. It was just one of those moments where I knew it was right and that was what I wanted and that Simon was the person I wanted to spend my life with. And so, however we got there, I just believed that it was meant to be.\u201d<\/p>\n
