Former America\u2019s Next Top Model<\/em> alums are making their voices heard after Tyra Banks<\/strong><\/a> filed a bombshell defamation lawsuit against Netflix.<\/p>\n

Banks claimed that the streamer\u2019s docuseries Reality Check: Inside America\u2019s Next Top Model<\/em><\/a>, which premiered on February 16, didn\u2019t give an accurate depiction of her comments, as she claims only 16 minutes of her three-and-a-half hour interview were allegedly used.<\/p>\n

Per her June 13 filing obtained by People<\/em> at the time, she said the doc was \u201cstripped of context and reassembled<\/a> to support a false and defamatory narrative unrelated to what she actually expressed.\u201d<\/p>\n

The former Victoria\u2019s Secret Angel noted that she agreed to appear in the three-part docuseries \u201cbecause she believed viewers deserved a candid conversation about the show\u2019s legacy,\u201d including its \u201csuccesses and its shortcomings\u201d after a 24-season run.<\/p>\n

According to her lawsuit, there are aspects of the show for which she \u201ctakes accountability and she wanted ANTM viewers to hear that from her directly.\u201d<\/p>\n

Banks argued that instead of giving the full picture, producers fueled negative perceptions of her role on the show through \u201cselective editing, deliberate omission, and surgical manipulation of continuous footage,\u201d insinuating that she \u201cknowingly allowed a contestant to be sexually assaulted on her show, exploited that contestant\u2019s trauma for ratings, and then could not even remember it when asked.\u201d She is seeking a jury trial and unspecified damages.<\/p>\n

The season 24 contestant and runner-up exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> that she felt it was \u201cvery ironic<\/a>\u201d that Banks complained about \u201cbeing edited falsely\u201d in an exclusive statement on June 15.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like it\u2019s a selfish, money-hungry thing,\u201d Turner told Us<\/em>. \u201cIt\u2019s also extremely ironic of her to be suing them for defamation when that is what all of the girls who have been speaking out about America\u2019s Next Top Model have been trying to point out is that we have been defamed, our lives were affected, our careers were affected \u2014 ultimately, it was defamation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Turner called out Banks\u2019 alleged \u201clack of accountability,\u201d telling Us<\/em>, \u201cFor years, former contestants have shared their experiences and concerns, and many of them felt dismissed.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added in part, \u201cI think people are capable of being both influential and harmed by a system, but accountability shouldn\u2019t disappear when the spotlight turns on the person who was previously in charge.\u201d<\/p>\n

The season 1 winner sounded off via Instagram on June 14.<\/p>\n

\u201cI read that Tyra Banks is suing Netflix because she didn\u2019t like being edited<\/a>,\u201d Curry said in a video, with a loud laugh at the end. \u201cBiiiiiiiiiiiitch, for real girl? Like?\u201d<\/p>\n
