During Thursday\u2019s episode of \u201cThe View,\u201d<\/a> co-host Whoopi Goldberg<\/a> made the case for why the New York Knicks<\/a> should visit the White House after noting that \u201cno NBA team has ever accepted an invite\u201d while Donald Trump<\/a> was in office.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Goldberg surprised her fellow panelists and the audience when she said, \u201cI want them to go,\u201d after Knicks owner James Dolan confirmed<\/a> that the team accepted an invite, though details have yet to be worked out.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cI want all those Black men to stand in our house and remind all of those people, as we tried to remind the vice president, that when you try to destroy one part of history, you\u2019re destroying all of our histories,\u201d she said, referring to Vice President JD Vance\u2019s recent visit<\/a> on the show.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cAnd they, as champions \u2014 not only as amazing basketball players, but as people who were down and came back up \u2014 this is what this looks like,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cSo, I want them to go. I want them to go. If only so the kids know that nobody \u2014 nobody \u2014 can keep you down if you are rising up,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Though the Knicks ultimately triumphed 4-1 over the San Antonio Spurs in the finals, they trailed the Spurs by the first quarter in each game and overcame large deficits<\/a> to secure their wins.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
