A husband and wife well regarded within the San Francisco arts community were found dead inside their running vehicle this week.<\/p>\n

The California Highway Patrol confirmed to The Los Angeles Times<\/i><\/span><\/a> that an officer spotted a Jeep Compass pulled over on the right shoulder of Interstate 5, north of Fawndale Road in the city of Redding, California, on Monday, June 15, around 5:46 p.m.<\/p>\n

Inside the vehicle were the bodies of Judith Sheldon<\/strong>, 84, and Wylie Sheldon<\/strong>, 86.<\/p>\n

\u201cA second CHP officer arrived on scene, and both officers rendered medical aid to the parties along with medical personnel,\u201d the agency said in a statement.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHollywood mourned the deaths of some of its most legendary stars in 2026. The year started off with Broadway performer and influencer Bret Hanna-Shuford\u2019s death at age 46. At the end of the month, comedy acting icon Catherine O\u2019Hara died at age 71. In February, Dawson\u2019s Creek actor James Van Der Beek died at age [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The couple were pronounced dead at the scene. While a cause of death has yet to be revealed, authorities said it \u201cappears to be medically related.\u201d<\/p>\n

The temperatures in Redding that day were above normal, with a high of 109 degrees. A representative from the National Weather Service told The Los Angeles Times<\/i> that this was \u201cnear record-breaking heat,\u201d but couldn\u2019t confirm if that was related to the couple\u2019s death.<\/p>\n

A spokesman for the Shasta County Sheriff\u2019s Office told The New York Times<\/i><\/span><\/a> that postmortem examinations are in the process of being scheduled.<\/p>\n

Investigators do not suspect foul play, and the vehicle, which had plenty of gas, showed no signs of mechanical failure.<\/p>\n

According to media reports, the couple \u2014 who were longtime patrons of San Francisco\u2019s film and arts scenes \u2014 were driving to Ashland, Oregon, to attend the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.<\/p>\n

One of the friends who had been waiting for the couple to arrive in Oregon told The New York Times<\/i>, \u201cThey didn\u2019t crash. They stopped. They both just died there. The entire thing is so bizarre. We\u2019re still in a state of shock.\u201d<\/p>\n
