\u201cI have seen some progressive criticisms of me, personally, saying, \u2018What experience does the vice president of the United States have with hostile, high-stakes negotiations?\u2019\u201d Vance told reporters. \u201cAnd I would point those progressive critics to the fact that just two days ago I spent over an hour on<\/span> \u2018The View,\u2019 so I actually have great experience in very hostile negotiations.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
He added: <\/span>\u201cLook, Joy Behar is way tougher than the Iranians, and she and I are best friends now, so we\u2019re gonna get to a good place here. We\u2019re already at a good place.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
On Friday, the \u201cView\u201d panelists reacted to Vance\u2019s shout-out and were incredulous to say the least.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
\u201cWhat?! What?!\u201d Sunny Hostin said. \u201cWe were more difficult to deal with than the Iranian government?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
Behar quickly noted the vice president was just \u201cbeing funny,\u201d before stressing her belief in \u201creaching across the aisle\u201d and saying this is why MAGA Republicans are \u201ccoming around.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
Hostin then asked Behar, \u201cWhy were you so in love with JD Vance?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
Behar replied, \u201cI\u2019m not in love with him, and I\u2019m not in love with this administration.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
Ana Navarro then pointed out that Vance seemed \u201cstrategically prepared to disarm us with niceness\u201d when he appeared on the show and \u201ccame in being affable and laughing easily.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
She then emphasized to Behar: \u201cIt worked on you. It didn\u2019t work on me.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
\u201cIt did not work on me,\u201d Behar insisted. \u201cI respect the office. I\u2019m a civilized human being. When someone comes on my show, then you treat them like a human being. I learned under Barbara Walters.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
Fellow panelist and former Trump aide Alyssa Farah Griffin noted that she was previously \u201cdismissive\u201d of Vance. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
\u201cI personally think Marco Rubio is a more formidable candidate,\u201d she said. \u201cAfter having him here, I do think that he is more of a political heavyweight. I watched him at our table \u2014 play nice. He dodged questions.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
After Navarro noted that Vance \u201cdidn\u2019t answer anything,\u201d Griffin said Vance has \u201cthis chameleon aspect to him that can be helpful when running, or it can look disingenuous. I\u2019m not sure yet.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
Navarro turned the conversation back to Vance\u2019s original remark to reporters about how appearing on the show helped him with Iran.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
\u201cI know he was joking, but this is really serious,\u201d she said. \u201cWe sent Donald Trump\u2019s son-in-law, who has no negotiation experience; Donald Trump\u2019s best friend, Witkoff, who is, like, a real estate guy; and JD Vance to negotiate with the Iranians, who are some of the best negotiators in the world.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
She added: \u201cYou want to ask why the deal is so bad, look at that.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
