As a guest on \u201cTrevor Noah\u2019s World Cup Watch Party,\u201d Myers \u2014\u00a0who currently stars as Powers in a new Verizon commercial \u2014\u00a0was asked by a fan: \u201cAre we ever going to see an Austin Powers 4.\u201d<\/p>\n

No further details were offered.<\/p>\n What\u2019 \u201cyes\u201d exactly means is extremely unclear, but a fourth \u201cAustin Powers\u201d film, if it is indeed happening, would likely arrive a good 25 years after the last instalment in the phenomenally successful spoof spy trilogy, all created by Myers, directed by Jay Roach and co-produced and released by New Line Cinema.<\/p>\n While the films \u2014 about a \u201960s British spy (played by Myers) frozen for 30 years and brought back in the \u201990s to battle his old nemesis Dr. Evil (also Myers)\u00a0\u2014\u00a0might seem a little dated in today\u2019s world, the wildly-dressed character with his frilly ruffled shirts and catchphrases of \u201cGroovy Baby\u201d and \u201cDo I make you horny?\u201d mostly confined to fancy dress parties, the impact when they launched almost 30 years ago is undeniable.<\/p>\n The first, 1997\u2019s \u201cAustin Powers: International Man of Mystery,\u201d became a cultural phenomenon, sparking 1999\u2019s \u201cThe Spy Who Shagged Me\u201d and 2003\u2019s \u201cGoldmember,\u201d starring Beyonce. The total box office topped $670 million.<\/p>\n Myers \u2014\u00a0whose last leading live-action role was the 2008 flop \u201cThe Love Guru\u201d \u2014\u00a0has discussed his interest in an \u201cAustin Powers\u201d sequel on numerous occasions over the last decade, telling Entertainment Tonight in 2024 that there were \u201cabsolutely\u201d more stories to tell.
