American soccer fans are not only singing the praises of the U.S. Men\u2019s National Team (USMNT) after its 2-0 World Cup victory<\/a> over Australia on Friday, they\u2019re also singing a classic John Denver<\/a> song.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

After the team\u2019s victory, the nearly 70,000 fans at Seattle\u2019s Lumen Field broke out in song, specifically Denver\u2019s 1971 smash, \u201cTake Me Home, Country Roads\u201d<\/a> <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Although the game took place in Washington State and the song is set in West Virginia, the crowd was loud and proud as you can see in the video below.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Although soccer teams commonly adopt classic songs as anthems, \u201cCountry Roads\u201d isn\u2019t the official team song of the USMNT. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In fact, it owes its presence at the World Cup to Scottish fans who\u2019ve taken to singing \u201cCountry Roads\u201d when the Scottish team plays \u2015 and pretty much every other chance they get, according to Fox26 Houston. <\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
