Well, if <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/faroutmagazine.co.uk\/tags\/the-big-indie-playlist\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">the Big Indie Playlist<\/a> is any indication, then your reward comes in the form of another week\u2019s worth of incredible new music.<\/p>\n<p>After a bumper week of heavy-hitters in <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/faroutmagazine.co.uk\/the-big-indie-playlist-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">last week\u2019s playlist<\/a>, with new efforts from the likes of Jack White, The Mountain Goats, and Beastie Boys alum Mike D, this week was one for the little guys. A reassuringly excellent week for the up-and-comers suggests that the global music scene is as strong as it has ever been. From East LA and Thee Sinseers, to Manchester and Holly Head, the past seven days have witnessed countless groundbreaking releases from across the globe, and across the spectrum of genres.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-grvmedia-grv-video GRVVideo GRVPrimisVideo\"\/>\n<p>On the topic of Holly Head, the Mancunian outfit \u2013 specifically frontman Joe Moss \u2013 has been kind enough to curate a section of this week\u2019s playlist, highlighting some of their favourite releases from recent weeks, and giving an invaluable insight into the listening habits of <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/faroutmagazine.co.uk\/manchesters-most-impassioned-and-political-new-noisemakers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">one of the most exciting, promising groups<\/a> in Manchester\u2019s ever-expanding music scene.<\/p>\n<p>You should all know the drill by now, but if it wasn\u2019t obvious already, The Big Indie Playlist provides a home for all genres, and this week is no exception, stretching from intimate folk offerings to adrenaline-fueled noise rock and relishing in every stop along the way. We love all the rhythmic elements in his music, and this song in particular, the dynamics are insane, and everything we want to be\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Scuttlers \u2013 \u2018Public Holiday\u2019:<\/strong> \u201cThese lot are tight. They have very creative parts, especially in the guitar, and all the instruments intertwine so well with each other. Myer as a front man is so riveting to watch, and it\u2019s certainly a band you should see live\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pushbike \u2013 \u2018Bet You Know\u2019:<\/strong> \u201cThis song is the <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/faroutmagazine.co.uk\/the-1970s-band-patti-smith-called-an-enemy-of-rock-and-rock\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\u201cLight shows and smoke bombs\u201d: The 1970s band Patti Smith called an enemy of rock and roll\">definition of fun and rock and roll<\/a>. These guys never fail to blow the roof off any venue with the volume they play at, it\u2019s almost worth going deaf just to hear the power from it\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Elwell \u2013 \u2018Go Faster\u2019:<\/strong> \u201cGood friends of ours from Leeds. They\u2019re brilliant songwriters, sonically they\u2019re a bit abrasive but in a very pretty way. Making indie cool again, with hints of emo in the mix. Some of the best new music in the country\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Shaking Hand \u2013 \u2018Italics\u2019:<\/strong> \u201cShaking Hand are without a doubt making some of the best music in the UK at the moment. We reckon they\u2019ll come to be a band that\u2019s talked about for a very long time, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/faroutmagazine.co.uk\/how-the-fall-influenced-the-madchester-scene\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\u201cI fucking hate Manchester\u201d: How The Fall unknowingly influenced the Madchester scene of the 1980s\">especially in Manchester music history.<\/a> Here\u2019s a lighter point in the album in Italics, but their whole debut album really is of the highest quality. Sonically brilliant, beautifully eerie\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>University \u2013 \u2018Notre Dame Made Of Flesh\u2019:<\/strong> \u201cBreak neck, frantic emo from Crewe, just an incredible thing to witness and listen to. They sound like they\u2019ve all drank 17 Monsters each and are transcending into new heights of supercharged heartfelt mayhem\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\"><strong>Mleko \u2013 \u2018Tom\u2019s Tune\u2019:\u00a0<\/strong>\u201cMleko are not only good friends of ours, but they also write some pretty darn mega tunes.<\/span> One is Tom\u2019s Tune, filled with great, tender lyrical lines throughout, and the band really uses all of their seven members to weave a beautifully immersive woolly balaclava to put on yourself too. One that soothes the soul\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Great Unwashed \u2013 \u2018I Do Try\u2019:<\/strong> \u201cSerene and sedating like not any other band, let alone a local band, around at the moment or ever really. Salford\u2019s The Great Unwashed really are up there with some of the best post-rock music ever made. Regardless of whether this \u2013 their first-ever live album \u2013 was actually recorded at the Taruntius Crater or not, this newly-released live version of their 1972 track \u2018Whippings and Apologies\u2019 is out of this world. <strong>[4\/5] <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Frank Lloyd Wleft \u2013 \u2018I Have Been In The Desert So Long\u2019: <\/strong>Do not be fooled by his cowboy hat or affected American accent, Frank Lloyd Wleft is London-based, and his latest effort is post-punk-cum-rockabilly odyssey blending lyrics of the Old West with a knowing sense of humour and a particularly enchanting bassline. <strong>[3\/5]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Alison Cotton \u2013 \u2018What Were Those Words You Spoke to Me?\u2019: <\/strong>If you\u2019re looking for the most haunting release of the week, look no further. As you might expect from that line-up, the track is as heavy as it is mind-expanding.<strong> [3\/5]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Parks, Squares and Alleys \u2013 \u2018Alisa\u2019: <\/strong>From one end of the rock spectrum to the other, the latest offering by dreampop veterans Parks, Squares and Alleys provides a fittingly laid-back, sunsoaked soundtrack to these summer months, blending lo-fi shoegaze influences with classic dreampop indie. <strong>[3.5\/5]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Curiosity Shop \u2013 \u2018Crows\u2019: <\/strong>While Scotland\u2019s week had been soundtracked by triumphant bagpipes through the streets of Boston, back home Edinburgh-based, Kintyre-born Curiosity Shop opt for a distinctly more downbeat mood, with this gorgeous folk-centric effort, paying homage to the musical heritage of Scotland while also drawing upon their fair share of more contemporary, indie-folk influences. <strong>[3.5\/5]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Squirrel Flower \u2013 \u2018Reelin\u2019: <\/strong>Another endearing indie-folk effort to arise from the airwaves this week, \u2018Reelin\u2019 coincides with the announcement of a new album by Chicago\u2019s Squirrel Flower, and its vulnerable, intimate performance evokes the voice of Chrissie Hynde and the songwriting confidence of Courtney Barnett. <strong>[3\/5]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Annabelle Dinda \u2013 \u2018Whatever You Wanna\u2019: <\/strong>Upbeat acoustic pop courtesy of New York\u2019s Annabelle Dinda, currently on tour with Lola Young, the songwriter proves she is more than a few viral soundbites, creating something that feels rather timeless as well as being infectiously upbeat. <strong>[3.5\/5]<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Off the Beaten Track: Left-field sounds<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Thee Sinseers \u2013 \u2018Let\u2019s Fall In Love (Again)\u2019:<\/strong> On this latest Colemine-released single, Thee Sinseers reaffirm their credentials as the torchholders of contemporary Chicano soul, with \u2018Let\u2019s Fall In Love (Again)\u2019 taking the inspiration of those classic sounds and driving them forward into the 21st-century, paying homage to the past without becoming trapped within it. <strong>[4.5\/5]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Illusions \u2013 \u2018Float\u2019: <\/strong>If you weren\u2019t aware that Ibiza-based collective The Illusions deal almost solely in live improvisations, then this funk-fueled journey of soulful Afrobeat influences should confirm that fact.
