Former Danity Kane<\/a> and Diddy-Dirty Money<\/a> member Dawn Richard<\/a>\u2019s lawsuit against Diddy<\/a> has been dismissed.<\/p>\n On Monday (June 15), federal judge Katherine Polk Failla issued a 35-page opinion, throwing out all 18 of the singer\u2019s claims against her former group-mate and label head. Richard was left the option to re-file one of them, Diddy\u2019s alleged violation of New York City\u2019s Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Act (VGMVPL), in state court.<\/p>\n None of Richard\u2019s claims against Diddy were judged on their factual bases, with Judge Failla saying that, \u201cif true, [they] are execrable.\u201d Instead, 15 of the counts were dismissed for being past the statute of limitations, two (both over the song \u201cDeliver Me\u201d) for matters relating to copyright law, and one, concerning the VGMVPL, because the issue properly belongs in state court, not federal.<\/p>\n Richard had argued that her claims should be considered despite being past the statute of limitations, using several different legal doctrines. Obsess.<\/a><\/p>\n In her suit, Richard accused Diddy of subjecting her to years of horrific treatment, abuse and threats. She also recalled witnessing the mogul\u2019s repeated abuse of his former partner, Cassie Ventura<\/a>, and attending parties where Diddy arranged for \u201cbusloads\u201d of women \u2014 including some who \u201cappeared to be underage\u201d \u2014 to attend, be given drugs and alcohol, and be \u201csexually violated\u201d by him and his guests.<\/p>\n She filed her suit against Diddy back in September of 2024<\/a>. At the time, the mogul responded by saying that he was “shocked and disappointed” by the suit, which he claimed was a “manufactured series of false claims all in the hopes of trying to get a payday.”<\/p>\n One of Richard\u2019s attorneys, Arick Fudali of The Bloom Firm<\/a>, talked to Complex about Monday\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re certainly disappointed in the dismissals,\u201d he said. \u201cHowever, we\u2019re very encouraged that the judge chose not to dismiss with prejudice, and basically just refer the Gender Motivated Violence Act claim to state court.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe feel very confident in the Gender Motivated Violence Act claims,\u201d he continued. \u201cWe believe those are our primary claims anyway.
