Akon<\/a> claims he\u2019s advised Ne-Yo<\/a> on how to manage having multiple girlfriends.<\/p>\n The \u201cI Wanna Love You\u201d<\/a> vocalist was recently interviewed by Complex News\u2019 Izzy Izzo and spoke about Ne-Yo, who he\u2019s currently on the road with during the Nights Like This Tour. Akon practices polygamy<\/a>, although he hasn\u2019t specified how many women he\u2019s married to. Last year, one of his wives, Tomeka Thiam<\/a>, filed for divorce after nearly 30 years together.<\/p>\n Around the 28-minute mark of the interview below, Akon stated plainly, \u201cI consult Ne-Yo.\u201d The R&B singer-songwriter is in a polyamorous relationship<\/a> with three women and was previously married to Crystal Renay<\/a> from 2016 to 2023. In a 2024 episode of the podcast Lemon Drop with Karleen Roy<\/em><\/a>, the \u201cSo Sick\u201d<\/a> singer reflected on \u201ctime wasted\u201d in forcing monogamy<\/a> with previous women.<\/p>\n \u201cI don’t have to lie anymore, and I’ll be damned if I ever go back to that person that needed to lie for the appeasement of somebody else.
