Jennifer Aniston <\/b><\/a>is mourning the death of legendary TV director James Burrows.<\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cOh boy \u2026 \ud83d\udc94<\/span>Papa Burrows. The hardest thing about writing this is that you spent a lifetime making people feel loved, and now it feels impossible to put all of that love into a few paragraphs,\u201d Aniston, 57, wrote via Instagram<\/span><\/a> on Saturday, June 20. \u201cHe called us his \u2018kids\u2019 \u2014\u00a0 \u2018Where are the kids?\u2019 \u2018Let\u2019s see if the kids can make the joke work.\u2019 No pressure. \u2764\ufe0f<\/span>\u201d<\/p>\n

Burrows died on Friday, June 19,<\/span><\/a> after a brief undisclosed illness at age 85. James is survived by his wife, Debbie Easton Burrows<\/b>, and their four kids.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis own incredible children were generous enough to share him with all of us who were lucky enough to experience his unicorn presence,\u201d Aniston added on Saturday. \u201cHe was a father figure to me. He always checked in on me. He worried about me, celebrated me, taught me, guided me and held me through the hardest times and the best of times. He spoiled us rotten.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHollywood is in mourning after TV legend James Burrows died at the age of 85. According to Deadline, the celebrated director passed away in his sleep on Friday, June 19, after a brief illness. \u201cJimmy was the greatest comedic television director in the history of the medium,\u201d Burrows\u2019 longtime agent Rick Rosen said in a [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

She continued, \u201cMost of all, he taught us \u2014 the kids \u2014 how important it is to love and respect one another. To take care of each other. To have each other\u2019s backs and support each other, no matter what. And we did just that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Burrows, who co-created Cheers<\/i>, also directed numerous Friends<\/i> episodes<\/a> during the late-90s, early-aughts TV series\u2019 heyday. Aniston, for her part, notably starred on the sitcom as Rachel Green, opposite Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer <\/b>and Matthew Perry. <\/b>(Perry died in 2023 of an accidental ketamine overdose. He was 54.)<\/p>\n

\u201cOn that show, [the test audience ratings] was through the roof,\u201d Burrows said on the \u201cConan Needs a Friend\u201d podcast<\/span><\/a> in 2022, hinting Friends <\/i>would end up a massive hit. \u201cThey loved those characters.\u201d<\/p>\n
