Jeff Probst<\/a><\/strong> just revealed a surprising potential successor to him as the host of\u00a0Survivor<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n In an interview with The Wrap<\/a><\/em> published on Monday, June 15, Probst was asked to make a short list of Survivor contestants who could possibly host the show someday.<\/p>\n “That\u2019s a good question. Who could do it? I\u2019d have to really think about it, if that was really happening. It\u2019s a very, very, very small list,” Probst said. “Because the mistake made is the observation that somebody\u2019s hosting the show, therefore you should get a host. The observation\u2019s correct: Somebody is hosting the show. The conclusion that you should get a host is the fallacy. You need a producer who can host. I was never just a host.”<\/p>\n Probst has been hosting Survivor<\/em> since its first season in 2000. The job of a host on a show like Survivor<\/em> is you have to be able to know when a moment is unfolding and how to nurture it or grab it or get out of the way,” he continued. “That\u2019s a different skill than having the right shirt and a good haircut and somebody in your ear saying, ‘Remember, the opening phrase is, Welcome to Survivor<\/em>!\u2019 That\u2019s irrelevant. What\u2019s more relevant is who do I want to talk to right now? Who has the more interesting story?”<\/p>\n Probst then answered the question, and instead of naming popular fan picks like Rick Devens<\/strong> or Boston Rob Mariano<\/strong>, he pointed to someone who is still completely unknown to viewers.<\/p>\n “Names get thrown around.
