\u201cMusic Vespers at Oysterville \u2014 it\u2019s our favorite place to play,\u201d according to the Squeaky Wheels, known individually as Al Price (banjo, guitar, vocals), Jim Delfel (guitar, vocals) and Jan Delfel (bass). The veteran bluegrass group returns to the Oysterville Church on Sunday, June 28, at 3 p.m. for the second Music Vespers Service of the 2026 season, continuing a tradition that started in 1978.<\/p>\n
The Music Vespers Series, ongoing since 1978, is sponsored by the Oysterville Restoration Foundation and is open to the public free of charge each summer Sunday afternoon. Vespers started last week with The Oyster Crackers.<\/p>\n
Music scheduled for the following summer Sundays will feature:<\/p>\n

July 19 \u2013 Wild Ferns (Aileen and Leif Halvorson)<\/p>\n
July 26 \u2013 Greasy Joan (Loralyn Staples)<\/p>\n
Aug. 2 \u2013 Jon Lee<\/p>\n
Aug. 9 \u2013 Soulful Variations (Jay Sheaux and LeAnna Moos)<\/p>\n
Aug. 16 \u2013 Joel Underwood<\/p>\n
Aug. 23 \u2013 Millionth Street (Bob and Janet Cantonwine)<\/p>\n
Aug. 30 \u2013 Jeanne Walker<\/p>\n

In addition to 45 minutes of non-stop music, each Vespers Service includes a five-minute \u201cOysterville Moment\u201d \u2013 a story or memory about the historic church or village provided on alternate weeks by local residents Tucker Wachsmuth or Sydney Stevens. This year, the traditional short spiritual message will be given alternately by Pastors Sue Svendsen, Bob Cantonwine, and BetteLu Kraus after which the congregation will sing a hymn accompanied by pianist Barbara Bate, Suzanne Knutzen, Ferrell Hornsby or Pamela Klifar. <\/p>\n
During the hymn-singing, a collection basket will be passed to assist in the day-to-day upkeep of the historic 1892 building.<\/p>\n
The Oysterville Restoration Foundation\u2019s mission is to maintain the church and several open spaces throughout the National Historic District of Oysterville. <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
