Netflix on Monday announced more content for kids is coming to the streamer, with a new baking and crafting competition series inspired by popular animated show \u201cGabby\u2019s Dollhouse.\u201d <\/p>\n
Kids programming is a key part of the Netflix\u2018s ecosystem, accounting for nearly 22% of all viewing on the platform last year, the company said. \u201cGabby\u2019s Dollhouse,\u201d an animated series about a young girl who goes on adventures in her dollhouse, is among Netflix\u2019s most popular shows, ranking fourth in the second half of last year with about 108 million views. <\/p>\n
The new competition show might benefit from its existing fan base, as its challenges are inspired by \u201cGabby\u2019s Dollhouse\u201d and features young baker duos. <\/p>\n
\u201cSince Gabby\u2019s Dollhouse first premiered on Netflix in 2021, a world of creativity and imagination has exploded for our young audience and it only continues to grow,\u201d said co-creators Jennifer Twomey and Traci Paige Johnson in a statement. <\/p>\n
The program is part of a larger wave of kids programming coming to Netflix. Last year, Netflix struck a deal<\/a> for the worldwide premiere rights to Sesame Street, after Warner Bros. Discovery said it would no longer fund production<\/a> on new episodes. On Monday, Netflix said the Sesame Street collection with more than 100 episodes will be on the streaming service and next month other library programs including \u201cSesame Street Classics\u201d and \u201cMy Sesame Street Friends: My Abby Season 2\u201d will be on Netflix. <\/p>\n Some analysts say kids programming can be attractive to streaming services because if shows become popular, it can help retain customers<\/a>. It may be more difficult for parents to say no to young children when canceling a subscription.<\/p>\n Other upcoming kids shows on Netflix include the third season of preschool comedy \u201cDr. Seuss\u2019s Red Fish, Blue Fish\u201d and the second season of \u201cSheriff Labrador,\u201d which helps children learn safety tips, which both come out in August. <\/p>\n Netflix also said its podcast \u201cBedtime Stories with Netflix Jr.\u201d which tells stories from worlds including \u201cGabby\u2019s Dollhouse\u201d and \u201cDr. Seuss\u201d will be available for streaming on Netflix for the first time on Monday. Netflix Playground, the company\u2019s game app, will also add more games including \u201cMy Very Hungry Caterpillar\u201d later this year. <\/p>\n
