\n\tOn Sunday evening, after music critic\/content creator Anthony Fantano<\/a> made a snarky comment about his review of Halsey\u2019s album \u201cThe Great Impersonator,\u201d the pop singer took to Twitter<\/a> to quote-tweet him and unload on \u201cThe Needle Drop\u201d host, writing, \u201cI\u2019m certain my least memorable song will be remembered more fondly and for more time than anything you ever do with your life will be\u201d and insinuating that he gave her a negative review because he\u2019s a misogynist \u201craised-by-4chan edgelord bully [culture]\u201d:<\/p>\n

Who cares he gave a bad review? I care that a pay for clicks reaction YouTuber can facade as a pro critic and say it\u2019s \u201cmain character syndrome\u201d for an artist to lament her medical suffering on an album (surprise!) about her own life. He\u2019s a raised-by-4chan edgelord bully. Yuck.<\/p>\n

Being a woman dealing with serious health issues often means being afraid of telling the truth about the pain you\u2019re in because you\u2019re afraid of not being believed or seeming attention seeking. He validated that fear to thousands of women.<\/p>\n

\n\tSome context: On Oct. 29, 2024, Fantano posted a 9-minute video to his YouTube<\/a> channel \u201cThe Needle Drop\u201d critiquing Halsey\u2019s \u201cThe Great Impersonator,\u201d which was inspired by her cancer battle. It was a rough review, with Fantano saying the tracks \u201cseem like bad Halloween costumes, musically-speaking\u201d; describing it as \u201cstale, 2000s pop-rock vibes\u201d that are \u201cthe sort of songs you only remember for their association with various teen flicks throughout the \u201890s and 2000s\u201d; accusing the album of exhibiting \u201cmain-character syndrome\u201d; and ultimately giving it 1 out of 10 grade.<\/p>\n
