Today, Apple\u2019s SVP of Services and Health, Eddy Cue, received the 2026 Entertainment Person of the Year award at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. Here are the details.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n Last month, the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity announced<\/a> that Eddy Cue would be this year\u2019s recipient of the Entertainment Person of the Year Award.<\/p>\n At the time, Simon Cook, Cannes Lions CEO, said:<\/p>\n Eddy Cue has consistently pushed the boundaries of entertainment and storytelling, building platforms and experiences that have redefined how audiences engage with culture. Under his leadership, Apple has not only produced world-class content but has also shaped the future of entertainment through innovation, creativity and an unwavering commitment to quality. We\u2019re delighted to honour Eddy as our 2026 Entertainment Person of the Year.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Earlier tonight, Cue accepted the award during the festival\u2019s opening ceremony, a few hours after delivering the festival\u2019s keynote alongside producer Jerry Bruckheimer (Armageddon<\/a>, National Treasure<\/a>).<\/p>\n As he accepted the award, Cue said:<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ve never strived to be the most. We strive to be the best. When we started Apple TV<\/a> nearly seven years ago, we said, let\u2019s build the place that allows the best storytellers in the world to do their best work. [\u2026] Stories can make you laugh, cry, think and many other emotions. They connect us. Across language, across culture, across everything. That\u2019s what we\u2019re all about at Apple, so stay tuned for more. We\u2019re just getting started.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n In a press release<\/a> issued tonight, Apple celebrated Cue, saying he has been \u201cinstrumental in building Apple\u2019s globally influential entertainment ecosystem, overseeing Apple TV<\/a>, Apple Music<\/a>, Apple Podcasts, Apple Books, Apple Pay, Apple News, Apple Fitness+, Apple Card, Apple Maps and iCloud, as well as Apple\u2019s productivity and creativity apps.\u201d<\/p>\n Apple added that under Cue, \u201cApple TV<\/a>, which launched just over six years ago as a wholly original streaming platform, has become one of the industry\u2019s most award-winning and culture-defining services.\u201d<\/p>\n During the keynote session earlier in the day, Cue and Bruckheimer made no mystery of Apple\u2019s intentions of making another F1 movie<\/a>. From The Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a>:<\/p>\n Cue and Bruckheimer, on Monday, again teased a sequel to the hit film F1. \u201cWe\u2019re going to come back and hopefully make another F1,\u201d producer Bruckheimer told the audience, also mentioning the name of F1<\/a> and Top Gun: Maverick<\/a> director Joseph Kosinski. [\u2026]<\/p>\n Cue later added: \u201cWe\u2019re going to do it again. Hopefully, we\u2019re doing another Formula 1 movie<\/a>. I think everyone wants to see another one. It was Brad Pitt\u2019s biggest movie of all time. \u2026 It was a great story, it was fun, and you loved it when you were walking out of the theater or watching it at home.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n The duo also discussed another upcoming collaboration between Bruckheimer and F1 The Movie<\/a> director Joseph Kosinski at Apple TV<\/a>, a UFO conspiracy thriller.
