B. Saddlewick,\u00a0 published under the title of \u2018Monster Mia\u2019 in Germany, the movie follows a rebellious young girl, who is expelled from her local school and sent to the mysterious Rotwood Academy, where her classmates are monsters. With only her scruffy pet rat Quentin for support, she must find a way to survive, fit in, and ultimately embrace what makes her different.<\/p>\n Directed by Verena Fels, the\u00a0film combines a spooky Halloween\u00a0adventure with a\u00a0message of empowerment\u00a0and is designed to resonate with family audiences worldwide.<\/p>\n The feature premieres at Annecy on Friday as part of the festival\u2019s Official Selection \u2013 Annecy Presents sidebar.<\/p>\n The Annecy selection marks a major milestone for the production, produced by Austria-based animation studio\u00a0Arx Anima, a female-led creative tech company, with women making up over 50% of their team,\u00a0 in collaboration with PENG!
