The country superstar has revealed to\u00a0People<\/em><\/a>\u00a0<\/em>Magazine that he is actively working on fresh material ahead of his upcoming Soundtrack to Life Tour, while also\u00a0opening up\u00a0about how he balances life on the road with being a father of five. The update comes as anticipation builds for one of his biggest touring runs in recent years.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Rhett confirmed that\u00a0he\u2019s\u00a0currently writing and recording\u00a0new music, describing the project as a particularly meaningful creative period for him. He shared that this latest batch of songs feels like some of his strongest work\u00a0yet,\u00a0shaped by a more focused and grounded writing process. \u201cI feel like there were a lot of years where I was doing quantity over quality songs,” Rhett admitted. “I feel like all the music made for this record was made out of peace rather than the chaos of the road. We just wrote a lot of songs that have a lot of heart and a lot of intentionality.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Beyond music, Rhett also spoke candidly about the challenge of balancing a demanding touring schedule\u00a0with\u00a0raising his children alongside his wife, Lauren Akins.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cI hate to leave my house, but it\u2019s also a privilege to be able to leave and go do this,” the \u201cMarry Me\u201d singer explained. “It\u2019s also a unique chance to teach your kids that you\u2019re allowed to do something that you love for a living. I try to turn it into a teaching tool rather than a \u2018Oh, your daddy has to go.\u2019\u00a0I\u2019ve\u00a0turned\u00a0into\u00a0like, \u2018Hey, your daddy gets to do this. This is such a privilege to be able to do it.\u2019\u00a0Reframing\u00a0the way that they look at me leaving, I think, has been really beneficial for me as a dad and I think for them as children.”\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n When asked what he does for a living, Rhett joked that his kids answer that he \u201cjust sings” and “makes words rhyme,\u201d grounding the multi-award-winning singer and songwriter.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Aside from the Soundtrack to Life Tour, Rhett is also scheduled to headline WE Fest<\/a> 2026 in Detroit Lakes with Lainey Wilson and Brooks & Dunn. He will also perform with Niall Horan<\/a> on July 7 during the latter\u2019s Grand Ole Opry debut.
