INTERLOCHEN \u2014 Mogen Mcallister, owner of The Hammered Heifer<\/a>, launched his restaurant\u2019s full operations on May 15. The establishment had a soft opening on May 14.<\/p>\n

The menu<\/a> features a signature smash burger known as \u201cThe Heifer,\u201d alongside other burgers and dishes inspired by Mcallister\u2019s international travels.<\/p>\n

The Hammered Heifer operates seven days a week, from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. and provides a unique dining and entertainment experience for its patrons.<\/p>\n

Mogen highlights the restaurant\u2019s signature menu item, \u201cThe Heifer.\u201d This burger consists of two quarter-pound smash patties with American cheese, lettuce, onion, tomato, pickle and heifer sauce.<\/p>\n

Mcallister emphasizes the technique for creating a quality Smash burger, stating, \u201cNow the key to a good smash burger is you want a hot grill and a cold burger.\u201d He finds the process appealing because, \u201cThey are quick and easy and very easily customizable.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mogen believes in the importance of a distinctive offering. \u201cI feel like every restaurant needs a signature burger. Just a burger that\u2019s very easily recognizable by the restaurant\u2019s name,\u201d Mcallister said.<\/p>\n

Beyond its menu, the Hammered Heifer features a large outdoor patio. This space is equipped with cornhole, frisbee golf and live music. Mcallister describes the atmosphere as unique, saying, \u201cI think we have a beautiful vibe here that you really just cannot find at any other bar or restaurant. Just extremely unique.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mcallister also expressed his gratitude for the community\u2019s reception. \u201cIt is really insane. It\u2019s like one thing to have a dream, but to have such a large community and a lot of people support it is really just surreal. My heart is so full,\u201d Mcallister said.<\/p>\n

Many menu items draw inspiration from Mcallister\u2019s global travels. For instance, his time in Colombia led to the inclusion of empanadas on the menu. \u201cWhen I was in Columbia, I fell in love with empanadas, which is why I brought this back here. They would do a sweet potato chorizo empanada that I hold very near to my heart,\u201d Mcallister stated.<\/p>\n

Another item is the chimi burger, which Mcallister developed a passion for as a teenager. \u201cI fell in love with chimichurri when I was 14 or 15 years old. A mentor at my father\u2019s restaurant showed me it. And ever since I tasted it, I could not stop making it. And I really wanted to bring this Argentinian steakhouse into this little burger kitchen,\u201d Mcallister explained.<\/p>\n

The Hammered Heifer also recently received their liquor license and offers a bar area for people to pair drinks with their meals.<\/p>\n
