None of these songs are interrelated \u2013 This Silent Shell <\/em>is about someone that wants to take revenge on another person. I let the music guide me when I write lyrics. I just try to tell a story.<\/p>\nPassengers<\/strong><\/em> tackles the issue of old age <\/strong>(\u2018As the days grow colder and the sunlight dims\/It\u2019s hard to not feel older as the winter begins\u2019<\/strong><\/em>). Is that something that worries you?<\/strong><\/p>\nThere are a few like that, including Hands Of Time<\/em>. From the moment you\u2019re born the hourglass is running out. Like I said, I turn 56 this year and looking back you realise that time has really fucking flown by. It seems like only yesterday I was in the studio with Fates recording Perfect Symmetry<\/em> [in 1989].<\/p>\nLast year you made your solo debut at the ProgPower USA in Atlanta. That must have lit the fire to do more of the same.<\/strong><\/p>\nThat was great. It was such fun to play my new stuff. I didn\u2019t do any Fates songs, though I included some stuff by Engine. It was weird, man. I was really nervous.<\/p>\n
Well, you didn\u2019t have your \u2018brothers\u2019 beside you.<\/strong><\/p>\nI\u2019m always okay before going onstage but at ProgPower I was more nervous than I\u2019d ever been in my life. The crowd response was good. I hope I can do more of that. When I made the record I was thinking, \u201cI wanna hear this live.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
