Joe Jonas performed a surprise show for a crowd at Bluebird Cafe in Nashville to promote his new solo album.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

A little birdie is heading east.<\/p>\n The Tennessee Titans<\/a> and the Bluebird Cafe announced on June 23 that Bluebird East, a songwriter-focused space inspired by Nashville’s iconic listening room, will open inside the new Nissan Stadium when the venue debuts in spring 2027.<\/p>\n The partnership marks the first satellite location in the Bluebird’s history. Bluebird East will be located directly behind the stadium’s planned in-bowl stage in the end zone on the east side.<\/p>\n “We’ve never done anything like this,” said Erika Nichols, the Bluebird Cafe’s president and COO.<\/p>\n The idea began more than a year ago when the late Warner Chappell Music Nashville CEO Ben Vaughn<\/a> introduced Nichols to Titans leadership. Vaughn, who passed away in January 2025, became the driving force behind early conversations between the two organizations.<\/p>\n “Their whole intention is to involve the community and to recognize the music community,” Nichols said. “And so to undertake another space with the Bluebird name here in town was like, ‘Oh my gosh. What does this look like and what are we doing?'”<\/p>\n For Nichols, the challenge was preserving what has made the Bluebird a Nashville institution for more than four decades.<\/p>\n “How do we continue to keep the real story going in a situation that’s very, very commercial?” Nichols said.<\/p>\n As discussions continued, Nichols said she became convinced the Titans understood the importance of protecting the Bluebird’s identity and the songwriting culture it represents.<\/p>\n “The folks that I’m working with, the team and with the stadium, are all on board with the philosophy of how the history of the Bluebird is important,” Nichols said. “How the importance of songwriters and what the Bluebird represents is really integral to what they’re trying to do with the new stadium.”<\/p>\n For the Titans, the conversations were part of a larger effort to determine what the organization’s next chapter should look like and how the new stadium could reflect Nashville beyond football.<\/p>\n “We want this stadium to be a place that really serves the community it’s in and music is at the heart of that community and songwriting is the foundation of that,” said Jenny DeLoach, the Titans’ vice president of entertainment and fan engagement.<\/p>\n The space is designed to maintain the intimate feel of the Bluebird.<\/p>\n “It will have that real direct connection to the performance stage, which we think is a little poetic in terms of the songwriters being that foundational component into that next step of live performance,” DeLoach said.<\/p>\n Programming is still in development. However, Nichols said conversations about the space’s future are ongoing. One idea: bringing in songwriters who helped write songs for artists performing in the stadium and giving fans a closer look at the people behind the music.<\/p>\n The space is also expected to serve as a green room and hospitality area for artists during games and events while hosting small performances, songwriter initiatives and music education programs throughout the year.<\/p>\n “I want it to be something that provides a bridge to the community,” Nichols said.<\/p>\n “It is all entertainment,” DeLoach added. “I think the beautiful thing about entertainment is it really is just creating community and a place of belonging.”<\/p>\n Bryan West is a music reporter at The Tennessean, part of the USA TODAY Network.
