R&B singer Muni Long<\/strong> is opening up about undergoing a double lung transplant after being told she had just one week to live.<\/p>\n

Long, 37, said she fell ill and was diagnosed with pneumonia while performing on Brandy<\/strong> and Monica<\/strong>\u2019s The Boy Is Mine Tour <\/em>last year.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe road is tough, even when you are healthy. I should have never taken that tour, but there was so much going on in my life where I had to do it,\u201d Long, who suffers from lupus, explained<\/a> during a Tuesday, June 23, appearance on Good Morning America<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Long said she took a brief hiatus from the tour but later returned. That\u2019s when she started to feel worse.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think maybe about five or six dates in \u2026 I couldn\u2019t even get out of the bed to make my call time for the stage, and the last show, I just barely made it,\u201d she shared. \u201cI was only able to do two songs and my my team and my family were like, \u2018You just need to come home and rest.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cHrs and Hrs\u201d singer said she woke up in the hospital after Thanksgiving, where doctors gave her the news that her lungs needed to be replaced.<\/p>\n

\u201cI knew for a really long time that something was wrong \u2026 every day I\u2019m like spitting in cups and coughing all the time,\u201d she said, adding that she was \u201chuffing and puffing like I just ran a marathon.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201c[The doctors were] like you need a transplant, and I\u2019m like, \u2018Well, it sounds like you guys have a time \u2026 like how long do I have to live?\u2019 and they go, \u2018A week.\u2019 My jaw dropped. They\u2019re kind of like, \u2018Hey, this is not a joke. You need to make a choice. You can either go to hospice or you can get these lungs.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tToni Braxton\u2019s latest concert was cut short for a personal reason. \u201cMy loves, I am so sorry I wasn\u2019t able to finish the show last night,\u201d Braxton, 58, wrote via her Instagram Story on Monday, March 23. \u201cI had an unexpected personal emergency and had no choice but to step away.\u201d The \u201cUn-Break My Heart\u201d [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Long, who has a young son, said that she is now on the road to recovery, though she isn\u2019t able to perform just yet.<\/p>\n

\u201cI look at my son and I think about, like, how much more life that I have to live, and I think just quality of life was first, like, I can\u2019t sing if I\u2019m not here,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI [am] six months post-op. Tomorrow\u2019s my last appointment for all the things,\u201d Long continued. \u201c[I\u2019m] asymptomatic, no infections, none of that, and then I have my vocal checkup in August because I had to have vocal surgery as well.\u201d<\/p>\n
