PJ Harvey<\/a> has unveiled \u201cVoyager,\u201d her first new music in three years and a glimpse at her much anticipated album. Stream it below.<\/p>\n Harvey had developed the beginnings of \u201cVoyager\u201d when physicist Brian Cox asked her to write a song for his multi-experiential science and nature show \u201cEmergence,\u201d<\/a> spurring on the completion of the song, according to a press release. The song title comes from the NASA probes launched in 1977 containing Carl Sagan\u2019s Voyager Golden records. Harvey recorded \u201cVoyager\u201d with a full orchestra at Miraval Studios in Provence. Partisan Records is releasing a 7-inch of the single that fans can pre-order here<\/a>.<\/p>\n In the song, pulsing synths and swelling strings weave with Harvey\u2019s cavernous vocals building into an ethereal composition.<\/p>\n \u201cI was excited for the challenge to compose a song in the \u2018voice\u2019 of Voyager 2,\u201d Harvey said in a statement. \u201cI have long been fascinated by the spacecraft and its journey, and asked myself what it might say to us if it could?
