\u2018For instance, the song I wrote with my daughter, Lola (Lourdes). She approached me about writing a song together as a way to heal our relationship. It was a really important moment, and it solidified the idea that now is the time to make this record.\u2019<\/p>\n
As the project progressed, the 67-year-old realised she was ready to share a more intimate account of her journey.<\/p>\n
The loss of several loved ones prompted Madonna to reflect on pivotal moments in her life.<\/p>\n
\u2018Well, all these symbolic things happened,\u2019 she explained.<\/p>\n
\u2018My step-mother died, my brother was ill, my brother died, my daughter approached me\u2026you know what I mean? It\u2019s hard for me to write a song about nothing. I have to tell a story. So I wrote about a lot of family trauma, and then we started making dance music.\u2019<\/p>\n
Recently, Leon released the alt-pop, house-infused track T-Shirt,<\/a> a song about losing herself in a relationship and grappling with lingering emotional scars.<\/p>\n\u2018A song about a relationship where I completely lost myself and felt haunted at every turn by lingering, unwelcome spirits,\u2019 she wrote on Instagram.<\/p>\n
\u2018They seemed to make homes wherever I went, dwelling in every corner of my mind. What a gift it is to channel those emotions through art, to process them and finally set them free.\u2019<\/p>\n
