The estate of the late legendary singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen<\/a> strongly objected to President Donald Trump<\/a>\u2019s promise to use his song \u201cHallelujah\u201d ahead of Wednesday\u2019s Freedom 250 rally on the National Mall. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cThe Leonard Cohen Estate has learned that the song \u2018Hallelujah\u2019 is to be performed at a Donald Trump<\/a> rally on June 24,\u201d the singer\u2019s estate posted to social media on Wednesday.<\/a> \u201cThis use is not authorized, and the Estate does not support or approve of this or any similar usage.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n In an apparent dig at the way Trump often ends his lengthy Truth Social<\/a> posts, the Cohen estate concluded its statement with: \u201cThank you for your attention to this matter.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Trump first announced that \u201cHallelujah\u201d would be performed three weeks ago, after changing the event from a series of planned concerts <\/a>to a political rally because numerous artists slated to perform had backed<\/span> out. In his June 4 announcement, Trump said that the event would be \u201cthe Greatest Rally, EVER!\u201d and \u201ca Rally to end all Rallies!\u201d and insulted the artists who decided not to perform. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cWe don\u2019t want singers with no talent, but big fees to put you to sleep \u2014 we\u2019ve told them all to stay home,\u201d Trump wrote at the time.<\/a> \u201cAll we want is you, me, a few speakers, and the Greatest Music ever played, the same Music you have listened to for years!
