If Kelsea Ballerini<\/a> <\/b>has one lesson to impart from her 2022 divorce from Morgan Evans<\/b>, it\u2019s the importance<\/a> of financial freedom.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very wary to speak on divorce anymore,\u201d Ballerini, 32, began on the Tuesday, June 23, episode of SoFi\u2019s \u201cRicher Lives\u201d podcast<\/span><\/a>. \u201cI will say, just in the name of talking to women [and] strictly through the lens of financial, I think when you are entering into buying a house with somebody or opening a joint account with somebody or getting married and joining all of it, the most important thing you can do is have financial transparency.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ballerini acknowledged that there are currently \u201ca lot of women breadwinners,\u201d so protecting individual assets has become increasingly important.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think more and more in today\u2019s culture and society and truly, thank God, oftentimes the income is either a match or we have a lot of women breadwinners now,\u201d the singer stated. \u201c[It] is even more reason to really be transparent on where it\u2019s coming from, how you\u2019re blending it, where it\u2019s going, and how to protect it as a unit.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tKelsea Ballerini\u2019s decision to open up about her divorce through music has led to some unexpected fan reactions. At concerts, The Voice coach, 31, has grown accustomed to seeing fans hold up signs that read, \u201cJust got a divorce.\u201d \u201cI try to never celebrate it until I know if it\u2019s a good thing,\u201d Ballerini shared [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

While Ballerini acknowledged that future brides \u201cnever want to prepare for the worst,\u201d that is exactly what should be done before walking down the aisle.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s also important to prepare for the worst for yourself,\u201d Ballerini said. \u201cYou just truly never know where life\u2019s going to bring you, and I think that would be my biggest advice is, like, you always want to make sure that you are financially independent on your own to the best of your ability even when you\u2019re in the happiest, healthiest relationship that you still have you and that you know exactly what you and that other person are bringing to the table and what table you\u2019re bringing it to.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ballerini married Evans, 41, in 2017, after the pair signed a prenuptial agreement. The duo split in 2022, finalizing their divorce<\/span><\/a> that same year. Per court documents obtained by Us Weekly<\/i>, Ballerini and Evans divided joint household property and sold their joint house.<\/p>\n
