The Royals found out prior to Wednesday\u2019s game. Hours later, the club revealed that everyone\u2019s immediate family is safe and accounted for.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s like the whole Caracas, La Guaira, there\u2019s a lot of people that are still worried,\u201d Royals infield coach Jose Alguacil said. \u201cI mean, it\u2019s a lot of uncertainty. They don\u2019t know what happened with family members. They are still searching. It\u2019s a sad moment for my country.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alguacil is a native of Caracas, Venezuela. He spent several hours checking on his family late last night.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
He learned that his family spent Wednesday night on the streets. And he was visibly shaken after seeing the aftermath of the earthquakes.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cYeah, pretty much my whole family,\u201d Alguacil said. \u201cLike my mom, brother and nephews. They didn\u2019t feel safe because they kept feeling shaking (aftershocks) in the apartments. \u2026 They didn\u2019t feel safe, and they don\u2019t know what can happen at this point.\u201d<\/p>\n

His family is working to return to their home.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy parent\u2019s place is a little damaged,\u201d Alguacil said. \u201cAt some point, they can be there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alguacil asked for continued prayers for his country. Meanwhile, several Royals discussed the situation in the clubhouse.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Guys like Salvador Perez, Luinder Avila and Maikel Garcia are Venezuela natives. They represented the country in the World Baseball Classic in March.<\/p>\n

Other Venezuelan representatives include Alguacil, Juan Graterol (bullpen catcher) and Luis Perez (strength coach) among others.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s very emotional,\u201d Royals manager Matt Quatraro said. \u201cThere\u2019s a lot of things still coming in. The reports we\u2019ve gotten so far on our players and their families have been positive. But there are people that they know that have perished. It\u2019s something that is very sad and very emotional.\u201d<\/p>\n

Garcia expressed his concerns<\/a> on social media. He revealed that his daughter and her mother are safe and accounted for.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
