“SmartLess” podcast<\/a> that was released this week, the Oscar nominated star of “The Fighter” and “Enchanted” said she was leaving a restaurant in Santa Monica with her family when she noticed a disturbance nearby.<\/p>\n“These people were screaming and a guy was walking and they were yelling, ‘He’s dying!'” she told hosts Will Arnett, Sean Hayes and Jason Batemen.<\/p>\n
While Adams’ husband, Darren Le Gallo, stayed with their daughter, Adams said she and her father jumped in to assist.<\/p>\n
“He’d been stabbed in the neck,” she said. “So he was bleeding and his friends were freaking out.”<\/p>\n
They grabbed beach towels to help stop the bleeding, with her father applying pressure to the wound while Adams worked to keep the victim calm and focused on breathing.<\/p>\n
As she spoke to the injured man, Adams said she drew upon her brief experience playing registered nurse Alice Doherty on “Dr. Vegas.”<\/p>\n
The series, which starred Rob Lowe as Dr. Billy Grant, aired on CBS for just five episodes in 2004.<\/p>\n
She recalled repeating the advice, “The more you struggle, the faster you’re going to bleed. Just lay down.”<\/p>\n
Adams also revealed that she unexpectedly crossed paths with the victim about a year after the incident.<\/p>\n
“A guy walks up to me in a restaurant,” she said. “He’s like, ‘I heard a story that you and your dad were on the scene of a guy getting stabbed.’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, that’s so funny you heard that story.'”<\/p>\n
“I was like, ‘Oh my God, it’s you,'” Adams said. “He was all teary and he had his son with him. It was so crazy.”<\/p>\n
Adams, who was promoting her new Apple TV series “Cape Fear,” joked that she always wanted to be a doctor.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
