THE CANADIAN PRESS\/Tijana Martin – The Canadian Press <\/figcaption><\/figure>\nTORONTO \u2014 Corus Entertainment Inc. reported a net loss attributable to shareholders of $36.5 million in its latest quarter as the company behind Global Television saw its revenue fall 16 per cent compared with a year ago. <\/p>\n
Chief executive John Gossling says the results reflected significant savings from cost management initiatives, which helped partially offset continued pressure on linear television advertising demand. <\/p>\n
The television and radio broadcaster says the loss amounted to 18 cents per diluted share for the quarter ended May 31. The result compared with a loss of $7.3 million or four cents per diluted share for the same quarter last year. <\/p>\n
On an adjusted basis, Corus says it lost 15 cents per share in its latest quarter compared with an adjusted profit of six cents per share a year earlier. <\/p>\n
Revenue for what was the company’s third quarter totalled $249.4 million, down from $297.8 million a year earlier. <\/p>\n
Television revenue amounted to $229.5 million, down from $274.5 million a year ago, while radio revenue totalled $19.9 million, down from $23.3 million. <\/p>\n
