Doubling Down With the Derricos <\/i>alum Deon Derrico <\/b>claims that his ex-wife, Karen Derrico<\/b><\/span><\/a>, threatened his and their children\u2019s lives.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe didn\u2019t specify which one. It was a brawl. Like, \u2018I\u2019ll kill y\u2019all. I\u2019ll go to jail for it. I\u2019ll gladly go to jail for it,\u2019\u201d Deon, 42, exclusively claimed to Us Weekly <\/i>after Karen, 46, was arrested for the alleged threats<\/span><\/a> earlier this month. \u201cThat was said several times.\u201d<\/p>\n

Deon and Karen, who share 14 children, divorced in 2024 after two decades of marriage<\/span><\/a>. As the pair attempted to coparent their kids, Deon eventually heard about Karen\u2019s reported threats through the kids themselves.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen they told me, I\u2019d addressed it with her, like, \u2018You can\u2019t never do that. I don\u2019t care. You can never tell your children you would kill them,\u2019\u201d he told Us. <\/i>\u201cHer words were, \u2018Well, my mother said that to me,\u2019 and I said, \u2018Your mother did not tell you she would kill you. I know your mother, she didn\u2019t say that.’\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Deon, it\u2019s \u201cvery common\u201d in the Black community to hear certain phrases that could be classified as threatening.<\/p>\n

\u201cA mother or father would say, \u2018I brought you into this world, I\u2019ll take you out.\u2019 Not meaning it, literally,\u201d he explained. \u201c[They were] basically saying, \u2018I brought you into this world, you better respect me.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

After hearing Karen\u2019s alleged comments, Deon told her that she could no longer threaten to harm the kids because the \u201ctimes have changed.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShe said, \u2018You\u2019re right, I apologize.\u2019 And then, when I\u2019m gone, the children tell me that she did it again,\u201d Deon alleged. \u201cShe did it several more times, but they didn\u2019t even tell me immediately out of fear of how I would retaliate as far as having them getting her in trouble or something like that. I just couldn\u2019t believe she said it. I was in total disbelief.\u201d<\/p>\n

Deon also claimed that Karen verbally threatened<\/a> his life.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tParents of 14 Deon and Karen Derrico officially divorced in 2024 after two decades of marriage. Before the split, the couple managed to build a family of 16 and a five-season TV series on TLC on the foundation of their relationship. That foundation remains strong, with the Derricos promising to coparent their 14 children going [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cIf you say that to your own biological children that you birthed, who am I? I didn\u2019t like that she said it to me,\u201d he said. \u201cShe also admitted to a couple of witnesses \u2026 that she wished she had a gun, she would shoot me.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Deon, he didn\u2019t think Karen would physically shoot him because of her \u201csmall frame.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI felt she would do [it], not necessarily herself,\u201d he claimed to Us<\/i>. \u201cIf it was just pound for pound, she couldn\u2019t match me. I feel she would lean on a man, like how you see on these different shows with these women who go to a man and say, \u2018Oh, I just feel bad because I\u2019m so terrified.<\/p>\n

When he walks around, I think I\u2019m gonna die.\u2019 Then the man says, \u2018I love you. I\u2019m gonna protect you.\u2019 Then, the man goes and kills the person.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tKaren Derrico is known for her role as a TLC star, but she\u2019s also been making headlines for a recent arrest. Karen made her TLC debut in 2020 when Doubling Down With the Derricos premiered. The reality show followed Karen and her then-husband, Deon Derrico, along with their 14 children. Deon, who believes that Karen is \u201cmanipulative,\u201d further told Us <\/i>that he has tried \u201cto be amicable\u201d following their divorce. The two continued to live together in the family home post-split.<\/p>\n

Karen was arraigned on charges of harassment, violating a restraining order, preventing a witness from testifying through threat of violence and aggravated stalking on Tuesday, June 23, where she pleaded not guilty.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe allegations are completely false,\u201d her attorney Jess Marchese<\/b> told Oxygen in a statement. \u201cAnd we will prove they were completely fabricated by Mr. Derrico.\u201d<\/p>\n
