Miranda Kerr<\/strong><\/a> and her husband, Evan Spiegel<\/strong><\/a>, paid it forward to help relieve thousands of people in California struggling with medical debt.<\/p>\n

\u201cHey everybody, Evan and Miranda here,\u201d Spiegel, 35, said in a video shared via Instagram<\/a> on Friday, June 26. \u201cAnd today we are so excited because we\u2019re announcing a partnership with Undue Medical Debt<\/a> to relieve over half a billion dollars of unpaid medical debt for more than 250,000 Californians.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kerr, 43, explained that they decided to share the news publicly because those who had their debt relieved will be receiving a notice in the mail.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you happen to receive a letter in the mail letting you know that your medical debt has been forgiven, we want you to know, it\u2019s real,\u201d the model said.<\/p>\n

Spiegel added that medical debt \u201ccan be a burden\u201d on a person \u201cthat lasts long after a health crisis has passed.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen someone you love is sick, all you want to do is focus on helping them get better,\u201d Kerr said. \u201cThat\u2019s why we wanted to support this effort and help relieve medical debt, so families can focus on caring for their loved ones and really supporting their healing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Spiegel shared that there was no application or paperwork process to make this happen. Instead, the chosen beneficiaries will simply receive a letter in the mail stating that the debt has been \u201cforgiven.\u201d Kerr also explained that the pair wanted to \u201cshine a light\u201d on the \u201cincredible work\u201d that Undue Medical Debt has been doing since the nonprofit was founded in 2014.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo everyone whose debt is being relieved through this effort, we\u2019re sending you and your loved ones so much love,\u201d Kerr said.<\/p>\n

Spiegel added that they hope this brings \u201ca little peace of mind and allows you to focus on what matters the most.\u201d<\/p>\n
