PUP are back with a new music video for \u201cConcrete\u201d an entirely handmade, analog stop-motion video which features 2,300 frames of animation by artists, with every frame a different page from a magazine. To make it, director Sterling Larose filmed the band performing and broke it down into over 1000+ frames to send to thirteen different designers and animators. The artists returned the frames as magazine covers, tabloids, fake ads, zines, etc. \u2013 all by hand, no AI anywhere \u2013 and the results were printed and filmed frame-by-frame in stop-motion. This video took almost a year to finish due to the extremely ambitious nature of the concept, coupled with a constant stream of technical mishaps and issues, but alas! It has arrived. Alongside this feat of a music video, PUP is sharing a brand new song entitled \u201cIf This Is It,\u201d which was recorded during Who Will Look After The Dogs? sessions.<\/p>\n
PUP will headline FEST in Gainesville, Florida and will have a massive hometown show on August 23. A co-headline with Jimmy Eat World at RBC Amphitheater, PUP will be playing The Dream is Over in its entirety to celebrate the album\u2019s 10th anniversary.<\/p>\n

\u201cAbout a year ago, on our way to Australia, we decided to stop over in Vancouver, visit our pal Sterling, and shoot a video for \u201cConcrete,\u201d one of our favourite songs off the last record.\u201d \u201cHis concept was mental and ambitious. We did the shoot, and waited for the final product. It didn\u2019t come. Months passed and it seemed like it had disappeared into some technical abyss never to be seen again. Many days I searched the blackhole of my jetlagged memory and wondered if we\u2019d ever even shot the thing. And then a year later, seemingly out of thin air, Sterling (and the video) surfaced. And we love it to death. It took Sterling and 13 designers and animators hundreds and hundreds of hours, physically creating thousands of individual frames, photographing them, animating. We\u2019re fully aware that releasing a video for a song that\u2019s already been out a year is a stupid thing to do. But we don\u2019t care. At this point, we\u2019re in an incredibly lucky position with PUP to mostly do whatever we want with this band, and for us, it was completely worth the wait. The video was made with no AI \u2013 just immense care, patience, and endless frustration on the part of the artists. We\u2019re proud to be a part of Sterling\u2019s vision and this mammoth project.
