Cara Delevingne is famous for being a supermodel and an actress, but she’s also apparently buds with the relatively reclusive Fiona Apple. When Apple recorded her 2020 masterpiece Fetch The Bolt Cutters<\/em><\/a>, Delevingne added some backup vocals, including a meow. Now, Delevingne is getting ready to release an album of her own, and she got some help from Apple. Last month, we learned that Apple co-wrote a song on Delevingne’s upcoming debut LP, which doesn’t have a title or a release date yet. Today, we get to hear that song.<\/p>\n Before you get too excited, you should know that Fiona Apple is merely one of six credited songwriters on Delevingne’s new single “Need It.” Also, it doesn’t sound like any of Apple’s music, though you might be able to detect some ‘Criminal” in there if you squint your ears hard enough. Apple and Delevingne co-wrote the song with producer BJ Burton, keyboard player Tommy King, Victoria “Ryann” Zaro, and Sylvan Esso’s Amelia Meath.<\/p>\n “Need It” is a skittery synthpop track about being used by another person. If I had to guess, I’d say that Apple’s largest contributions were to the song’s lyrics: “Marrow me, bone me\/ Tempt me, tease me\/ Fuck me, don’t fix me\/ Excite me with safety.” Delevingne basically confirms this. Talking about Apple in a press release, Delevingne says, “She’s an absolute savant when it comes to portraying emotion and melody and lyric, and she was a big supporter of this album. The song is a \u2018dance banger\u2019 that we wrote over text through Post-It notes that we would send each other.” Check it out below.<\/p>\n
