Jodie Sweetin<\/b><\/a> admittedly never tried to flex her child star status in the midst of her Full House <\/i>fame<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter the show ended and in high school, there was this strange feeling that I had because everyone assumed I was \u2018A TV star,\u2019\u201d Sweetin, 44, recalled on a recent episode of the \u201cInside of You\u201d podcast<\/span><\/a>. \u201cThe rumor before [I] even started school was, \u2018She\u2019s a stuck-up bitch.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Sweetin famously starred as Stephanie Tanner<\/a> on Full House <\/i>from 1987 to 1995, starting when she was just 5 years old. After the sitcom\u2019s eventual finale, Sweetin returned to public high school without any special treatment.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wanted to prove them wrong, so in order to make myself palatable and make other people feel like I wasn\u2019t trying to be better than them, I would try to be worse than them,\u201d the actress explained. \u201cLike, \u2018I don\u2019t think I\u2019m better than you, I\u2019ll get more f***ed up [and] I\u2019ll do more drugs.\u2019 [I didn\u2019t want my classmates to] think, \u2018She\u2019s goody-two-shoes,\u2019 and then you keep going, and that becomes who you are.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sweetin, who has been open about her battle with substance abuse, further noted that she \u201cspent most of [her] life\u201d questioning whether she was loved and accepted for who she was and not what she had made on TV.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had no idea [who I was]. I had to make a mess of relationships, I had to cheat, I had to lie,\u201d she alleged. \u201cI had to get involved with really severely toxic, scary people, but I had to get through all that. \u2026 It really has, sort of, rocketed me all of that into this place where around my mid-30s, I was just like, \u2018Oh, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. I think I\u2019ve been doing this all wrong.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

After getting sober<\/a> and navigating multiple divorces, Sweetin entered therapy and \u201cdug in\u201d to uncover moments from her past that shaped her life.<\/p>\n

\u201cI went through it, but I had to be like, \u2018What did I choose? What did I bring to this and why?\u2019\u201d she said. \u201cI realized I just, sort of, let everyone else make choices for me, and I never really even asked myself, \u2018What do you want?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
