Larry David<\/a> was so precious about his scripts for his new HBO sketch show, \u201cLife, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness,\u201d that not even former President Barack Obama<\/a> could curb his enthusiasm \u2014 and was swiftly shut down by the comedian for trying to give him some notes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The duo has long been friends and co-created the show together, and while Obama also happily co-executive-produced the series<\/a> and stars in it, director Jeff Schaffer recalled a hilariously spicy exchange between them in an interview with Variety published Friday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cHe gave a few notes about something and Larry went, \u2018Yeah, yeah, yeah, we got it,\u2019\u201d Schaffer told the outlet<\/a>. \u201cAnd the president goes, \u2018I spent half an hour talking about how funny everything is. I give you one note and you get into a defensive crouch.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The co-writer, co-creator and director continued, \u201cThe president said, \u2018When I was in the Oval Office, I took advice and listened to my advisors, and I was the president of the United States<\/em>.\u2019 And Larry just goes, \u2018Yeah, but I\u2019m the president of this.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Schaffer said Obama\u2019s input \u201cwas invaluable,\u201d however, and that he had read a bunch of the material and \u201cwas really liking it.\u201d He added that Obama has a \u201cgood rapport\u201d with David, who has nonetheless long established himself as America\u2019s cheekiest curmudgeon<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n David recently appeared on \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live<\/a>\u201d and confirmed he and Obama frequently golf together.
