Princess Catherine<\/a> celebrated finishing the Three Peaks challenge this weekend with several family members greeting her as she accomplished the challenge. Catherine<\/a> was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer at the start of 2024 and undertook six months of chemotherapy.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The princess<\/a> has spoken about how cancer \u201cprofoundly affects every aspect of life\u201d and she undertook the Three Peaks \u201cnot simply as a physical endeavour but as a chance to explore life beyond diagnosis and to give something back\u201d. Greeting her at the finish line were her husband, three children, parents and brother. The Princess completed the challenge within 24 hours with her family all waiting at the base of Mount Snowdon.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Three Peaks challenge involves climbing the highest mountains in England, Wales and Scotland – Scafell Pike, Snowdon and Ben Nevis.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The challenge has over 23 miles of walking, 3,064m of vertical climbing and 462 miles of driving between the locations.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Princess Catherine<\/a> said she embarked on the challenge to raise awareness of the wider impact serious illness can have on a person\u2019s life and to raise money for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, which is where Catherine received her chemotherapy after her diagnosis.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

She said: \u201cEvery year, hundreds of thousands of people in this country hear the words no one wants to hear.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cWhat follows is a path that tests every part of who we are: physically, emotionally, psychologically and spiritually.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cThe challenges ripple outwards, touching families, friendships, work and the quiet moments we spend alone with our thoughts.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cCancer<\/a> doesn\u2019t just affect the body. It changes how you think and feel and profoundly affects every aspect of life.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cI know this personally, and that the journey through and beyond treatment requires more than medicine alone.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The money raised will go towards improving access to holistic healthcare, as she is passionate about supporting the whole person alongside clinical treatment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
