Michael Wacha gave the Kansas City Royals <\/a>everything they needed on Saturday night in Chicago<\/a>, and they still could not get it done.<\/p>\n

The 34-year-old right-hander threw 7\u2154 innings of one-run ball against the White Sox<\/a>, striking out seven while allowing just six hits and a walk, and he left with a no-decision in a 2-1 walk-off loss.<\/p>\n

It was his third straight quality start, and all three have ended the same way, with Wacha pitching well enough to win and the offense not giving him enough to work with.<\/p>\n

Bobby Witt Jr. did not dance around the problem after the game.<\/p>\n

“These last starts from Wacha, he’s been throwing it well,” Witt said. “We just haven’t gotten him any run support. We’ve got to get there, because when we get runs on the board with him on the mound, I like our chances.”<\/p>\n

Witt himself has continued to play at a high level despite how the season has gone for the team around him.<\/p>\n

Through 78 games, the 26-year-old shortstop is hitting .288 with 10 home runs and 28 stolen bases, good for a team-leading 4.3 WAR.<\/p>\n

He advanced to Phase 2 of All-Star voting<\/a> this week, and there is no doubt he will represent Kansas City in July.<\/p>\n
