Just over one year after\u00a0announcing<\/a>\u00a0that her own\u00a0cancer\u00a0was in remission, Kate<\/a>, the Princess of Wales, climbed the three highest mountains in the United Kingdom over the weekend to raise money and awareness for the hospital where she underwent cancer treatment.<\/p>\n Kate, 44, completed the National Three Peaks Challenge, climbing 23 miles solo across the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales in 24 hours, Kensington Palace confirmed Sunday.<\/p>\n Samir Hussein\/WireImage – Catherine, Princess of Wales attends day two of Royal Ascot 2026 on June 17, 2026 in Ascot, England.<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n At the end of her climb, Kate was greeted by her husband, Prince William<\/a>, and their three children — Princes George and Louis and Princess Charlotte — as well as her parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, and her brother, James Middleton.<\/p>\n The palace on Sunday shared a photo on social media of Kate at the top of one of the peaks, with a caption personally written by the princess.<\/p>\n “I have taken on the National Three Peaks Challenge, not simply as a physical endeavor but as a chance to explore life beyond diagnosis and to give something back,” she wrote, in part.<\/p>\n Kate completed the challenge to support The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, which is operated by the London hospital where she underwent cancer treatment.<\/p>\n Kate and William are also joint patrons of The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust.<\/p>\n Kate Middleton visits cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy<\/a><\/p>\n Kate revealed in 2024 that she had been\u00a0diagnosed with cancer<\/a>\u00a0and was\u00a0undergoing preventative chemotherapy. She has not shared publicly the type of cancer with which she was diagnosed.<\/p>\n Nearly a year later, in January 2025, she announced\u00a0she was in remission<\/a>\u00a0and gradually resumed public engagements.<\/p>\n “Lots of people have asked me why I’m doing this challenge, and partly — it’s personal. I’m so grateful to be here, to be strong enough to walk these hills,” Kate said in a video shared<\/a> on social media Sunday by Kensington Palace. “But, more importantly, it’s to give something back and acknowledge, really, all the incredible work going on up and down this country.”<\/p>\n
