After a substantial shift in their lineup, that multi-platinum alternative metal band have rebuilt their roster, bringing in new vocalist <strong>Sara \u201cKILLBOY\u201d Skinner<\/strong> and bassist <strong>Derek Bolman<\/strong> (ex-<strong>Sworn In<\/strong>.) Founding drummer <strong>John Boecklin<\/strong> remains onboard, as does guitarist\/vocalist <strong>AJ Rebollo<\/strong> (ex-<strong>Issues<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p>For awhile, the future of <strong>Bad Wolves<\/strong> was uncertain. Following a mass departure of members, former vocalist <strong>Tommy Vext<\/strong> <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theprp.com\/2025\/11\/21\/news\/tommy-vext-claims-john-boecklin-turned-down-1-million-offer-for-bad-wolves-name-this-year-says-animals-as-leaders-javier-reyes-has-joined-the-band\/\">sought to buy the band\u2019s trademarks<\/a>. While <strong>Boecklin<\/strong> considered the reported 7-figure deal, he ultimately opted to revamp the group\u2019s lineup and set about on this new vision. While <strong>Vext<\/strong> at one point also stated that <strong>Animals As Leaders<\/strong> guitarist <strong>Javier Reyes<\/strong> was also involved in this new version of <strong>Bad Wolves<\/strong>, it would appear that role was more behind the scenes.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of this new incarnation of the band, <strong>Boecklin<\/strong> shared:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cWhen we started looking for the next voice of <strong>Bad Wolves<\/strong>, we weren\u2019t looking for someone to fill a spot; we were looking for someone who could help push this band into its next chapter. The first time I heard <strong>Sara<\/strong> sing, I knew she was different. She has an incredible voice, undeniable presence, and the kind of versatility that allows us to take our songwriting to places we\u2019ve never gone before. Beyond the talent, she\u2019s brought a renewed energy and excitement into this band. <strong>Sara<\/strong> isn\u2019t here to recreate the past, she\u2019s here to help us build the future. We couldn\u2019t be more excited to welcome her to the <strong>Bad Wolves<\/strong> family and for everyone to hear what we\u2019ve been working on together.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Those well-versed with <strong>Bad Wolves<\/strong>\u2018 catalog are likely somewhat familiar with <strong>KILLBOY<\/strong>, as she also guested on the \u201c<strong>Die About It<\/strong>\u201d track \u201c<strong>It\u2019s You (2 Months)<\/strong>\u201d back in 2023. Speaking on this comeback single, <strong>KILLBOY<\/strong> added:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201c\u2018<strong>Paint It Red<\/strong>\u2018 is about being unafraid to tear everything down and start over \u2014 again and again if that\u2019s what it takes. With blood, sweat, and tears, every single time. To live authentically and follow your heart, you have to be willing to rebuild when something no longer serves who you are. You can\u2019t be afraid of change, failure, or starting from scratch. Sometimes growth means letting go of what you\u2019ve built so you can create something even better. \u2018<strong>Paint It Red<\/strong>\u2018 is about having the courage to burn away what\u2019s holding you back and the strength to begin again.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Boecklin<\/strong> added:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201c\u2018<strong>Paint It Red<\/strong>\u2018 is a metaphor for those moments in life when being polite, diplomatic, or even democratic, no longer works. Not all the time. Not often. But there comes a point when enough is enough. There are moments when it\u2019s time to stop asking for permission and start making decisions for yourself. To do what you want to do, regardless of the consequences.<\/p>\n<p>Even if it\u2019s the wrong decision, at least it\u2019s yours. Then you live with it. Burn it down. Tear it apart. Cause some chaos if that\u2019s what needs to happen. There\u2019s something freeing about reaching that point \u2014 when you know it\u2019s time to sound the alarm and let everyone know to back the fuck off. \u2018<strong>Paint It Red<\/strong>\u2018 is about taking control, owning your choices, and refusing to let anyone else dictate your path.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>A new album from the group is in the works, with the songs for it recently having being finished. However, for now, release plans are still being kept under wraps. Meanwhile, in a new accompanying interview with <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.revolvermag.com\/feature\/killboy-bad-wolves-interview\/\">Revolver<\/a>, <strong>KILLBOY<\/strong> spoke of what it was like working on these tracks, she offered:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201c[<strong>John Boecklin<\/strong>] got off the phone with me and booked me a flight to L.A., and I was in <strong>EastWest studios<\/strong> the very next day. People were coming in \u2014the dude from <strong>Volumes<\/strong>, the dude from <strong>Animals as Leaders<\/strong> \u2014 and they\u2019re shaking my hand, saying, \u201cSo, you\u2019re the new <strong>Bad Wolves<\/strong> singer,\u201d and I\u2019m like, \u201cI don\u2019t know!\u201d <strong>John<\/strong> said that over the phone, and here I am, but I was freaking out.<\/p>\n<p>They had already been working on songs for a long time, so they had me start cutting songs that they had already made. One of the songs that will be on the album is called \u201c<strong>Drag Me Through Hell,<\/strong>\u201d and it\u2019s the most beautiful song ever. That\u2019s when I got really excited. It\u2019s actually an acoustic song, and it doesn\u2019t make a lot of sense for the album, but it\u2019s the one I\u2019m most excited about. [Laughs] I got really excited for the potential of where things could go.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In that same chat, <strong>KILLBOY<\/strong> also added some more insight into \u201c<strong>Paint It Red<\/strong>\u201d and the destruction found in its accompanying music video:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201c\u2018<strong>Paint It Red<\/strong>\u2018 is about not being afraid to rip your whole life apart, and just start over again. That\u2019s where everybody in the band is at. When <strong>John<\/strong> called me and asked what I was doing with <strong>KILLBOY<\/strong>, I was like, \u2018I\u2019m honestly ready to just rip it to the ground,\u2019 because I\u2019d been putting my heart and soul into it for so long, but it hit a wall. So [I was] down to start with <strong>Bad Wolves<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Coming into it, there\u2019d been a lot built already, which I\u2019m really grateful for. But it does feel like I\u2019m totally starting over. It\u2019s very scary, and it\u2019s very exciting. I\u2019ve done this so many times in my life where I started over and did something new, and the last project I did that with was <strong>KILLBOY<\/strong>. Now I feel like I\u2019m doing that with <strong>Bad Wolves<\/strong>. It\u2019s going to sound completely different. I\u2019m a female singer. I\u2019m different than <strong>DL<\/strong> [<strong>Laskiewicz<\/strong>] and <strong>Tommy<\/strong> [<strong>Vext<\/strong>].\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>She continued:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201c<strong>John<\/strong> [recently] bought this home, and he was demolishing [the interior], and so we were like, \u2018Let\u2019s include this in the music video.\u2019 So, in the music video we\u2019re tearing down his old house and rebuilding a new one.
