Landman<\/em> creator Taylor Sheridan<\/strong><\/a> got brutally honest about how some story lines were created out of spite.<\/p>\n

During a recent episode of \u201cThe Bill Simmons Podcast\u201d<\/a> show, Sheridan, 56, recalled sidelining Demi Moore<\/strong> in season 1 on purpose, adding, \u201cI told her, when I met with Demi about that, I said, \u2018Look, here\u2019s the thing. You\u2019re gonna be an extra in this show. For seven episodes, you\u2019re going to be an extra, and the critics are going to come after me.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Sheridan wanted to stir up drama with his decision.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018I\u2019m \u2018underutilizing this [actress], can\u2019t write for women,\u2019 all this nonsense.\u2019 And then I\u2019m going to kill your husband, and you\u2019re going to have to run the oil company,’\u201d he recalled telling Moore about her real arc on the show.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe Landman cast has often spoken about their experiences working with Yellowstone\u2019s Taylor Sheridan on his new hit series. Sheridan\u2019s work started in front of the camera before he transitioned to writing credits on Sicario, Hell or High Water and Wind River. From there, Sheridan created Yellowstone, which broke records at Paramount Network. The hit [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The shakeup was important to Sheridan<\/a>, especially if he was to achieve his initial goal.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe critics and me, I don\u2019t care what they think, and it annoys the s**t out of them that I don\u2019t care,\u201d he added. \u201cAnd I\u2019ll be the first to tell you that there are things that I do that rage-bait them a bit, and this is one of them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Elsewhere in the episode, Sheridan recalled how he withheld screeners for key episodes that addressed Moore\u2019s larger role as Cami, \u201cbecause f**k them, honestly.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI knew that when we put it all on [Demi]\u2019s shoulders, from an audience standpoint, you\u2019ve just seen her in little snippets as the housewife, in the background, living this fantasy. So, we\u2019ve set her up by omission to be someone that the audience is predisposed to believe she can\u2019t be this capable of doing this job,\u201d he continued. \u201cAnd not only does she have to overcome every character in this world\u2019s opinion of her, but now she has to overcome the audience\u2019s predetermined opinion of her. And I let her do that in the first scene of season 2.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sheridan also pointed to Ainsley\u2019s (Michelle Randolph<\/strong>) tension with her nonbinary college roommate, Paigyn (Bobby Salvor Menuez<\/strong>), as a story line intended to provoke conversations off screen about his intentions<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cPaigyn, the roommate, [was] one of the few times the network and even some of the actors called me and said, \u2018You sure you don\u2019t want to compress the resolution of Paigyn and Ainsley? What you do at episode 10, when they become friends \u2026 You don\u2019t want to put that in episode 9?\u2019\u201d he recalled. \u201cI said, \u2018No, for exactly the reason you\u2019re asking. I want to piss you off a little, and then, how dare I? and then you watch the next week and go, \u2018Oh you got me.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Ali Larter<\/strong>, meanwhile, plays Tommy\u2019s (Thornton) wife alongside their onscreen daughter Ainsley (Randolph). Before filming began on season 3, Larter, 50, praised how Sheridan has written female characters<\/a> on his shows.<\/p>\n
