After moving to Texas, Taylor Sheridan<\/strong> <\/a>revealed he would only return to Los Angeles under one condition.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve made it pretty clear that the only way you\u2019re getting me back to Los Angeles is if it secedes from the Union and I\u2019m drafted into the Army to take it back,\u201d Sheridan, 56, said on the Monday, June 29, episode of \u201cThe Bill Simmons Podcast,\u201d<\/a> adding, \u201cIt\u2019s the only way.\u201d<\/p>\n Sheridan, who also owns a ranch in Wyoming, said his dislike for Los Angeles<\/a> didn\u2019t extend to other major cities, including New York City.<\/p>\n \u201cI love New York,\u201d he added. \u201cThat city\u2019s way, way stronger than whatever political wind is blowing it in any direction, right? Whereas Los Angeles is built on sand. It ain\u2019t strong. There\u2019s no foundation there.\u201d<\/p>\n The producer was born in North Carolina before making the move to Texas. He lived in New York City and Los Angeles during his time as an actor before writing scripts for movies including Sicario, Hell or High Water<\/em> and Wind River<\/em>.<\/p>\n Sheridan\u2019s focus later shifted to the small screen<\/a>, which paved the way for Yellowstone<\/em>\u2018s success. The hit series aired from 2018 to 2024 as viewers tuned in to keep tabs on the fictional Dutton family.<\/p>\n Sheridan has also worked on original shows Landman, Mayor of Kingstown, Lioness<\/em> and Tulsa King<\/em>. News broke in October 2025 that Sheridan closed a major with NBCUniversal. The five-year overall deal for film, TV and streaming will begin January 1, 2029, after Sheridan\u2019s TV deal with Paramount \u2014 which goes through 2028 \u2014 officially ends.<\/p>\n Paramount will retain the rights to Yellowstone<\/em> and the other franchises Sheridan created under his deal with the company, so he is expected to create brand new IP for NBCUniversal. Sheridan\u2019s move came after Paramount\u2019s merger<\/a> with Skydance.<\/p>\n \u201cI spent the first 37 years of my life compromising. When I quit acting, I decided that I am going to tell my stories my way, period,\u201d Sheridan told The Hollywood Reporter in a 2023 profile. \u201cIf you don\u2019t want me to tell them, fine. Give them back and I\u2019ll find someone who does \u2014 or I won\u2019t, and then I\u2019ll read them in some freaking dinner theater. But I won\u2019t compromise. There is no compromising.\u201d<\/p>\n
