Daveigh Chase<\/strong>\u2019s dad, John Schwallier<\/strong>, is speaking out after her death.<\/p>\n

Schwallier told The California Post<\/em><\/a> on Monday, June 29, that Chase\u2019s cause of death<\/a> \u201cdoesn\u2019t surprise\u201d him, adding that \u201cit is what it is\u201d and that \u201cit\u2019s something you sometimes have to expect with the lifestyle she was living.\u201d<\/p>\n

Schwallier shared that Chase\u2019s cremated remains went to her mother, Cathy, and he had not seen his daughter since she was about 6 years old. However, Schwallier said they spoke on the phone during her childhood.<\/p>\n

Her father added that he would pursue going to court in order to get some of Chase\u2019s remains, with a plan to put them in a handmade box in his home in the Philippines.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOn June 17, Cathy Chase learned that her daughter Daveigh Chase had died the previous day at age 35. \u201cI let out this guttural scream,\u201d Cathy told The Daily Mail in an interview, \u201cand I went out into the backyard, and I was screaming, \u2018No, no, no, no!\u2019\u201d At the time, Chase\u2019s boyfriend, Roy Hernandez, [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI had an empty feeling inside for not being with her for all these years,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Chase died earlier this month at age 35. Us Weekly<\/em> exclusively confirmed on Monday via the Los Angeles medical examiner that the actress died of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) with other significant conditions including chronic polysubstance use.<\/p>\n

Chase\u2019s boyfriend, Roy Hernandez, confirmed her death to TMZ earlier this month and shared that she had died after battling meningitis and an infection in her blood that led to sepsis. Prior to Chase\u2019s death, Hernandez created a GoFundMe and opened up about her health journey.<\/p>\n

\u201cDaveigh Chase, my girlfriend, has always been a light in my life. Many people know her as a talented childhood actor from Lilo & Stitch, Spirited Away <\/em>and Donnie Darko<\/em>, but behind the scenes, she\u2019s faced more than her share of hardship,\u201d he wrote in the fundraiser\u2019s description. \u201cAfter a difficult childhood and a painful falling out with her family, Daveigh was bullied and struggled to find safety and happiness in downtown L.A.
