Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy<\/strong><\/a> has earned the title \u201cSpencer Pratt of NYC\u201d after he claimed he\u2019s considering a venture into politics.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve always thought that I would never get involved in politics. I think you can do more in the private sector,\u201d Portnoy, 49, said during a Monday, June 29, interview with Jesse Watters<\/strong> on Fox News<\/em><\/a>, adding that he\u2019s been thinking about Plato\u2019s famous quote, \u201cThe price good men pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cRight now, I feel like that\u2019s what\u2019s happening,\u201d he continued. \u201cNot everyone\u2019s getting out to vote. \u2026 It\u2019s a scary time. We need leaders to step up. \u2026 Sometimes I feel like it\u2019s my duty [to get involved.] I can\u2019t turn away.\u201d<\/p>\n

Portnoy, who previously revealed he voted for President Donald Trump<\/strong> (R) in the 2024 election but has also stated that his political views align with both Republicans and Democrats, said he would \u201clove\u201d to run against current New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani<\/strong> (D), who won the mayoral election in January against Andrew Cuomo, a former Democrat who ran as an Independent.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tSpencer Pratt has his eye on one thing: becoming the next Los Angeles mayor. In a June 2 primary, incumbent Karen Bass advanced to the November 3 general election against either Pratt or City Councilwoman Nithya Raman. Her opponent had yet to be announced at the time of publication. Pratt announced his unlikely candidacy one [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve had a real job, I\u2019ve done real things, unlike these clown politicians who have never had a job and never been in the real world for a day,\u201d Portnoy added.<\/p>\n

Portnoy\u2019s comments have received mixed feedback from social media users, with some hesitant to quickly endorse another entertainer-turned-politician.<\/p>\n

\u201cApparently managing New York City isn\u2019t a real job, but writing blog posts about pizza is. Good to know where we\u2019ve set the bar,\u201d one user wrote via X.<\/p>\n

(Pratt and his wife, Heidi Montag<\/strong>, lost their home in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood to the Palisades Fire, which killed 12 people and burned more than 6,800 homes and businesses.)<\/p>\n
