Despite landing names like Sharon Osbourne<\/a>, Louis Walsh<\/a>, Jack P. Shepherd<\/a>, Fern Britton<\/a> and JoJo Siwa<\/a> since the reboot<\/a>, news was reported earlier this year that ITV\/STV would be ‘resting’ Celebrity Big Brother<\/a>, with the next series not due until 2027.<\/p>\n

However, as the main civilian series<\/a> prepares to launch later this year, rumours are now swirling that CBB could be ‘axed’ for good by bosses, due to rising costs and struggles to cast big names for the show. <\/p>\n

A TV insider told The Sun: \u201cBosses face a huge challenge trying to sign up celebrities because so many of them are now pressing their agents to get them on The Celebrity Traitors<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat is already causing problems for other big shows, like Strictly<\/a> and I\u2019m A Celebrity<\/a>, which rely of star contestants because they now find themselves as second in the pecking order. <\/p>\n

\u201cSo that is an even greater issues for a show like Celebrity Big Brother because now it\u2019s on ITV, it needs a certain calibre of contestant which are very hard to sign up now.” <\/p>\n

They added: \u201cITV are already having to find two lots of stars to compete on I\u2019m A Celebrity this autumn as well as its spin-off show, The Wild Frontier<\/a>, which is expected to air in early 2027 \u2013 which is exactly the same time ITV were hoping to drop the new series of CBB.\u201d<\/p>\n

It was back in January this year that Director of Television at ITV, Kevin Lygo, said: “Celebrity Big Brother we’re looking at. We’re thinking not on the main channel, that’s the answer. It’s so difficult now to book big celebrities, famous people, which is what we need on the main channel. Whereas you can go more interesting and niche on ITV2.” <\/p>\n

He went on to add: “We’re in a battle with Banijay about the price. It does really well for us on ITVX. It’s a really important, crucial show. I love it and it does a tremendous job for us so, yes, it’s coming back.”<\/p>\n

Will the main series still air?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Yes! The main series of Big Brother, which is hosted by AJ Odudu and Will Best<\/a>, is expected to return in September this year.<\/p>\n

No housemates have been revealed just yet, but applications closed<\/a> earlier this year.<\/p>\n

After passing her mission and striking up a relationship with fellow housemate Sam Preston, Chantelle went on to win the fourth series!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Year: 2007<\/p>\n

In perhaps the most controversial series to date, 2007 saw the likes of Jade Goody, Danielle Lloyd and Jo O’Meara all enter the Celebrity Big Brother house. Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty won the series after ‘bullying accusations’ were made. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Series 6: Ulrika Jonsson<\/h4>\n

Year: 2009<\/p>\n

Following another two-year break, TV host Ulrika Jonsson became the sixth winner of CBB, despite receiving the most nominations during her time in the house. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Series 7: Alex Reid<\/h4>\n

Year: 2010<\/p>\n

In a relationship with Katie Price at the time, Alex Reid was loved by viewers, earning a huge 65.9% of the vote during the final in 2010. Alex was in the final alongside Dane Bowers and Vinnie Jones.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Series 8: Paddy Doherty <\/h4>\n

Year: 2011<\/p>\n

During the first series to air on Channel 5, My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding star Paddy Doherty won over the public to be crowned the winner of series eight, ahead of the likes of Kerry Katona and Jedward. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

CBB bosses decided on a UK vs USA theme for the 2015 Summer series, which saw celebs from the UK and USA going head-to-head. The Apprentice star James Hill went on to win series 16. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Year: 2016<\/p>\n

To date, series 17 of Celebrity Big Brother is perhaps the most memorable and most-loved by fans! Starring the likes of Gemma Collins, Stephanie Davis, Jeremy McConnell, and Megan McKenna, the series served up some hilarious moments and plenty of drama, with Geordie Store star Scotty T being crowned the winner. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Girls Aloud star Sarah Harding appeared on the series in 2017, going on to win the show after she endured a number of fiery rows with Jemma Lucy. Sarah also enjoyed a romance with The Bachelor star Chad Johnson in the house.<\/p>\n

Sarah sadly passed away in September 2021, following a battle with cancer. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Year: 2018<\/p>\n

Series 21 of CBB made history when it was confirmed all housemates during the launch show would be women, to mark 100 years of women’s suffrage. Shane Lynch, Ann Widdecombe and drag queen Courtney Act made it to the final, with Courtney being crowed the winner. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Year: 2018<\/p>\n

The last series of Celebrity Big Brother was won by former Coronation Street actor Ryan Thomas, after he was wrongly-accused by fellow housemate Roxanne Pallett of assaulting her in the house. <\/p>\n

Following the final, Channel 5 announced both Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother had been axed. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
