Sam Smith’s new album is “very romantic” and is inspired by their relationship with Christian Cowan. <\/p>\n
\nThe 34-year-old singer-songwriter and the 32-year-old fashion designer have been dating for more than three years, and Sam has revealed how their upcoming fifth studio album, Hazel Eyes, tells of “the first two years of meeting someone that you\u2019re with for a long time”. <\/p>\n
\nSpeaking on the Dish podcast, they said: “I moved to New York to be with my partner. So that, the album kind of soundtracked the move from England to America. <\/p>\n
\n“So, you can kind of hear that in some of the music. Yeah, I mean, the one, the first song on the album I wrote about the night before meeting my partner, and then it takes you through the first two years of meeting someone that you\u2019re with for a long time.<\/p>\n
\n“It\u2019s a very romantic album, and very, just kind of proud in the romance.”<\/p>\n
\nSam feels “very proud” of their upcoming new record. <\/p>\n
\nThey added: “You know, I like flowery, beautiful things, so I\u2019ve leaned into that and I\u2019m just very proud of it. I love it.”<\/p>\n
\nThe Stay With Me hitmaker recently told how their new album, which will be available from August 21 via Capitol Records UK, is “very personal”. <\/p>\n
\nSam said: “This album is an incredibly special record to me. I have been writing it for over three years with a very small group of beautiful, dear friends of mine.<\/p>\n
\n“This album is very personal, and I feel I have deepened myself as an artist through the making of it, through being a producer on the record, to walking alongside this record from the start to the finish and pushing myself at every single turn.<\/p>\n
\n“This record and this music is incredibly romantic.” <\/p>\n
\nAnd Sam admitted they learned “so many life lessons” while creating their new record. <\/p>\n
\nThey added: “I\u2019ve learned so many life lessons through making this album, and I\u2019ve documented it all through the music.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
