New events have been announced celebrating\u00a0David Bowie<\/strong>\u00a0at\u00a0Lightroom\u00a0<\/strong>in King\u2019s Cross, including live music and a root through his record collection with the man who knew him best.<\/p>\n The events run alongside Lightroom\u2019s acclaimed immersive show\u00a0David Bowie: You\u2019re Not Alone<\/strong>, which is showing daily until October, with evening screenings now extended until January. A special day of celebration is planned for 8th January, which would have been Bowie\u2019s 80th birthday.\u00a0<\/p>\n Renowned cellist and composer\u00a0Peter Gregson<\/strong>\u00a0will offer his take on Bowie\u2019s Berlin period with a series of unique concerts, while\u00a0Bowie Nights<\/strong>\u00a0takes over the opening night of\u00a0King\u2019s Cross Summer Sounds<\/strong>, with an explosive\u00a0secret headliner\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<\/strong>special performances from\u00a0Ashaine White<\/strong>,\u00a0Jack Kaye\u00a0<\/strong>(formerly of The Magic Gang).<\/p>\n In partnership with\u00a0Pitch Black Playback<\/strong>, the albums\u00a0The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars<\/strong><\/em>,\u00a0Let\u2019s Dance<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Earthling<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0each get unique listening parties using Lightroom\u2019s spatial audio system in complete darkness.<\/p>\n Bowie\u2019s friend and collaborator\u00a0Geoff MacCormack<\/strong>\u00a0will launch his new book with co-author J\u00e9r\u00f4me Soligny, David Bowie Music Lover, in which he explores the star\u2019s record collection. MacCormack\u2019s daughter, Iraina Mancini, will be DJing on 31 July as part of the\u00a0Bowie Lates<\/strong>\u00a0screenings, which run on the last Friday of every month.\u00a0<\/p>\n Lightroom chief executive Richard Slaney said:\u00a0\u201cCelebrating the multifaceted nature of art and artists is one of Lightroom\u2019s central missions \u2013 that\u2019s what these Bowie Nights are aiming to do. Peter Gregson\u2019s live shows in September will be a fantastic and truly unique opportunity to see a brilliant musician play a show that will feel completely new; just as with our Yuja Wang x Hockney concerts in 2023 and 2024, but this time celebrating the influence of David Bowie and his contemporaries. There\u2019s also the chance to listen to Bowie\u2019s own classic recordings in three pitch-black album listening evenings, which will be very special and a totally new format for Lightroom.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Peter Gregson<\/strong><\/p>\n On 3rd September (7pm and 9pm), 4th September (7pm and 9pm) and 5th September (7pm and 9pm), a unique concert series will see acclaimed composer and cellist Peter Gregson offer a creative response to the work of David Bowie, Brian Eno and their contemporaries in the Berlin era. Bespoke new visuals will be crafted from David Bowie: You\u2019re Not Alone, alongside live camera work, which will offer an intimate and immersive concert experience.<\/p>\n Alongside striking visuals, Lightroom\u2019s powerful Holoplot spatial audio system presents a sonic canvas for a one-of-a-kind musical experience with sound design by Brett Cox. Gregson will play a programme featuring a mesmeric, newly arranged version of Steve Reich\u2019s\u00a0Electric Counterpoint<\/em>\u00a0for the electric cello; Brian Eno\u2019s\u00a0Music for Airports<\/em>; and Gregson\u2019s own recomposed Bach\u00a0Prelude<\/em>, alongside newly composed pieces. In addition, he will perform a Bowie covers section, unique to every show.<\/p>\n Bowie Nights x Pitch Black Playback<\/strong><\/p>\n Pitchblack Playback will host some of their album listening sessions in the dark for three iconic Bowie albums:\u00a0The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars<\/em>\u00a0(28th July, 7pm),\u00a0Let\u2019s Dance\u00a0<\/em>(4th Aug, 7pm) and\u00a0Earthling\u00a0<\/em>(11th Aug, 7pm) \u2013 marking the release of new mixes for each. Each evening, the respective album will be played in full using Lightroom\u2019s powerful spatial audio system, HOLOPLOT, followed by a viewing of You\u2019re Not Alone (included in the ticket price).<\/p>\n King\u2019s Cross Summer Sounds<\/strong><\/p>\n On 13th August, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, Bowie Nights will launch King\u2019s Cross Summer Sounds in Coal Drops Yard with Ashaine White, Jack Kaye (formerly The Magic Gang) and a surprise headliner. A free-to-attend outdoor concert right next to Lightroom, it will be a celebration of Bowie\u2019s impact on music today, with each act including a Bowie cover in their set. Ashaine White fuses raw vulnerability with bold creativity, blending alternative rock with soulful vocal delivery and emotive lyricism \u2014 drawing comparisons to PJ Harvey and Jeff Buckley, while forging something entirely her own. Jack Kaye has returned six years on from the Magic Gang with acclaimed recent single Dora \u2013 expect more new music this year from a classic indie songwriter.<\/p>\n David Bowie Music Lover<\/strong><\/p>\n On 25th September, Bowie\u2019s former publicist, Alan Edwards, will interview the artist\u2019s friend and collaborator, Geoff MacCormack, and co-author J\u00e9r\u00f4me Soligny about their new book, David Bowie Music Lover. The book digs into the depths of Bowie\u2019s inspirations through an exploration of his own record collection.
