Danny Glover<\/strong><\/a> is sharing an update on his health ahead of his 80th birthday, revealing that he has been diagnosed with Alzheimer\u2019s disease.<\/p>\n

Glover, 79, revealed in an interview with Lester Holt<\/strong> for the Today<\/em> show on Wednesday, July 1, that he was diagnosed in 2022 just months after receiving an honorary Oscar.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can live with it in a sense,\u201d he said on\u00a0Today<\/em> of progressing symptoms. \u201cI\u2019m sure as it advances, different things will be different and changing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite his diagnosis, Glover still remains committed to speaking with \u201cyoung people\u201d about his social justice efforts.<\/p>\n

Glover rose to fame in the \u201880s thanks to his iconic role as LAPD detective Roger Murtaugh in the Lethal Weapon<\/em> films, with fans quoting his signature line \u201cI\u2019m too old for this s***\u201d to this day.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s one of those lines that\u2019s become a phenomenon,\u201d Glover told Yahoo Entertainment<\/em><\/a> in 2016, noting how often fans ask him to incorporate the line when signing autographs. \u201cI say, \u2018What do you want me to put on there?\u2019 and they go: \u2018I\u2019m too old for this s***.\u2019 Or they say: \u2018It\u2019s for my dad, so tell him, \u2018You\u2019re not too old for this s***.’\u201d<\/p>\n

In the original 1987 film, Glover starred alongside Mel Gibson<\/strong>\u2019s Martin Riggs, a former Special Forces soldier who struggled with suicidal impulses, as the pair investigated a young woman\u2019s apparent suicide. The action thriller spawned three sequels and a 2016 TV adaptation starring Clayne Crawford<\/strong><\/a> as Martin and Damon Wayans<\/strong> as Roger.<\/p>\n

His son, Back to the Future star Crispin Glover, confirmed the news via Instagram on Saturday, March 29, revealing that his father had died on March 12. \u201cBruce Herbert Glover,\u201d Crispin wrote, alongside a series of throwback and recent photos. \u201cMay 2, 1932 \u2014 [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The San Francisco native is also known for his television work, including his Emmy-nominated roles as Nelson Mandela<\/strong> in HBO\u2019s Mandela<\/em> (1987), Joshua Deets in CBS\u2019 Lonesome Dove<\/em> (1989), Philip Marlowe in Showtime\u2019s Fallen Angels<\/em> (1995) and Will Walker in TNT\u2019s Freedom Song<\/em> (2000).<\/p>\n

Outside of acting, Glover has become an avid civil rights and political activist.
