Bryan Adams has released a new patriotic single, \u201951st State\u2019, to celebrate Canada Day<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The title of the song comes after President Donald Trump has repeatedly called the North American country the \u201c51st state\u201d of the United States, much to the frustration of proud Canadians from Newfoundland to British Columbia.<\/p>\n

Trump first used the term in 2024, shortly after he won the most recent presidential election, when he wrote on Truth Social, \u201cNo one can answer why we subsidize Canada to the tune of over $100,000,000 a year? Makes no sense! Many Canadians want Canada to become the 51st State.\u201d<\/p>\n

He then claimed, \u201cThey would save massively on taxes and military protection. I think it is a great idea. 51st State!!!\u201d<\/p>\n

Now, Adams waited until Canada Day to fire up his response in the form of \u201951st State\u2019. In a statement, the singer-songwriter said of the new track, \u201cI wanted to write something about Canada because Canada is home. There is more that binds us than divides us.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u2018Summer of \u201969\u2019<\/a> singer added, \u201cThis is a tribute to the pride and spirit of my fellow Canadians \u2013 the rest is just noise.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the fiery protest anthem, he sings in a thinly-veiled swipe at Trump, \u201cLet me give it to ya straight,, When you\u2019re talkin\u2019 \u2019bout my home, You better show some respect, \u2018Cause up here, we take care of our own.\u201d<\/p>\n

He then sings, \u201cSo let me give you some advice mister, You might have too much on your plate, go and load us up with tariffs, But we\u2019ll never be the 51st state.\u201d<\/p>\n

Adams then accuses Trump of having \u201cforgotten\u201d how Canada \u201calways stood beside\u201d America \u201cfor that liberty we share, before delivering a rallying cry about Canadian resilience.<\/p>\n

Similarly, fellow Canadian musical icon Joni Mitchell <\/a>also spoke out against Trump earlier this year at the Juno Awards.<\/p>\n

After being presented with an award from Prime Minister Mark Carney, she told her fellow compatriots in the crowd,\u00a0\u201cI\u2019m living in the States, and you know what\u2019s happening there. This man (Carney) is a blessing. You guys are so fortunate.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n
